I was thinking water pump or maybe tensioner but I'm not sure. I'm praying it's just the tensioner or minor item.

with a knock that bad I would think the oil pressure would be way down ?????? take the belt off and see what happens then ???

that's not rod knock, that would be rhythmic with the engine rpm.

My thoughts; perhaps a broken valve or spring?

it sounds like the engine is running smooth to me... if I had to guess I'd say it's something on the outside of the engine or possibly in the clutch area

Not a rod or anything serious...take the belt off and you will find the issue. The engine is running too smooth for anything serious. Please let us know what you find. Good luck.

On again/off again almost like something is loose and making intermittent contact with a rotating part. Something in the accessory drive like idler/tensioner pulley or possibly harmonic balancer. Maybe even something caught in one of the cooling fans or one of the belts.
Pictures are too dark down in front area to get a good eyeball.
Definitely not rod knock...

if it was a pulley or something in the belt system i'm sure there would have been a squeak or something before it got this bad, to me it sounds like something in the valve train like a broke rocker or something getting knocked around

i had a ls with a bad valve at idle car was smooth idle but driving it there was a slight miss and the exhaust note was different

Update **** the noise was indeed the A/C TENSIONER. The car is at the Vette Doctors in Long Island NY. All is good.
