Default heads and cam for a 2004 Corvette\

Hey guys I live in California and cannot use any type of headers. How much power can I make with a nice head and cam setup without headers.
I have been told to check out Elliot ports works for a nice head and cam setup. My car is also and automatic with 59,800 miles on her.

Thanks for the help

What is your goal? Do you know what gears you have?
You can make plenty of power without headers, I'd say you're potentially more limited by the stock converter and gears if you have 2.73's. Adding a big cam and heads with a stock converter and lazy gears will not be a great move.
Also, if you have 2.73's moving to 3.42's will give you a great performance improvement.

I'd throw gears in it first. 3.73's, stall. Talk to tony mamo about you application for a cam without headers. I was going to go this route and he knows his stuff.

An option is C6 Z06 exhaust manifolds.
Grantv has a good point though.

Do you mean C5 Z06 Manifolds? I was under the impression that the C6 Z06 Manifolds do not match the opening on the heads??

Also OP cant you run Shorty headers? They might not be worth a ton, but they should flow decent up in the high rpm and help out with your cam selection.

I am out of my depth here, but I have been taking notice of any possible smog legal stuff for some time.

The impression I have about shory headers is that auto crossers use them for a weight savings, and thats about it. In the past, Lg was developing headers and found their shorty design didn't make enough difference in power to bring to market.
I can't say anything about the background of the marketing decision , and have no personal experience beyond reading posts from others.

IN another direction, small power can be had, I have read , by installing an insulating pad under the manifold.

Don't you have to change the carrier or something (not sure the correct technical part, but swear I read it before on here) when moving from 2.73 to 3.43 or 3.90?

Are you required to change the tc when swapping gears? Is it for convenience since you are in there, or does a different gear pose issues with a stock tc?

Easiest is to buy a full rear from any 6SPD C5, as all came with 3.42 gears. Some will tell you to ensure you get the stronger 3 rib, but if you're not going crazy power I wonder if that's a concern.
You'll need a tune after and good to go.

We could easily get you to the goal with our port work and cam package and could far surpass it depending on how aggressive you want to go with the cam profile. Also, as JrRifleCoach stated, an LS7 exhaust manifold swap is a great way to help flow.
