I had a power unit built that I just plug into mine. I just checked & my dimmer also works.

Default C5 IPC connector pin out

Here is the connector end view pin out for the IPC. It will require a couple of power connections to make the lighting come on. There will not be the ability to dim/brighten the lighting. I believe that the dimming function is controlled through the BCM.

There are TWO types of gage cluster lighting on the C5 cluster.

- First: Are the incandescent bulbs that back light all the little SYMBOLS on the face of the gages. The CEL light is a diode LED type of bulb.

-Second: The gage face Numbers and gage needles are lighted by TWO black light florescent tubes on either side of the cluster. There is a dedicated 12 VDC to 700 VAC Inverter on the back of the IPC that powers those tubes.

Are your black light florescent tubes lighted when you turn on the driving or headlights???? Is the DIMMER SWITCH properly adjusted to allow the lights to be seen????

Bill

Yes, everything is working, I merely wanted to power it up because I've changed the button bulbs to red led and was curious about adding a red glow to the center part of the cluster. I don't want to change any of the stock bits, and I don't want to compromise the gauge readability. I have a couple of individual red LED's. I want to see if they can be "judiciously" placed somewhere to accomplish this.

Very nice job!
Couple questions.
1. Is pin out for 2002 same as 1999?
2. If A2 is powered, would that illuminate highbeam indicator?
3. If A15 and A16 were powered, would that illuminate both turn signal indicators?
4. What determines message on LED?
5. If B2 powered up, will that illuminate drivers seat belt indicator?

Can you identify which pins are ground and which are powered? From angle of pic, I can't see it clearly.

Thanks
Martin

Open up the PDF posted earlier. I tried fooling around with a 9v battery and test leads, but got no response. I do have a portable emergency start battery for a 12v supply, but I don't want to fry anything.

I can only give you the connections I am using, I do know we had one other power hookup that after a couple of minutes the whole cluster would flash possibly due to too much input? not sure, once that was pulled all was OK.

Red is A13 A14 B17
Black is B8 B13 B15

Chime works
Dimmer works
DIC functions work, have to continually reset or the REDUCED comes up.

Yes, you can get to all the DIC display info like this so long as you have the DIC buttons.
