Default 285/40/17 Front and 295/35/18 Rear Tires

I have run 275/40/17 front and 295/35/18 rears in the past with no problems. Is it possible to run a 285/40/17 in the front. The diameter of the 285 is 26.0 verses 25.7 for the 275. I know the oem size of 265/40/17 is 25.4 diameter. The rear 295 tire is 26.1 diameter.

Anyone run the 285/40/17 front and 295/35/18 rear on OEM Z06 wheels?

I have run equal diameter tires many times with my 02 Z06 without any problems.

It definitely acted up when the fronts were 3/4" larger than the rears. It would intermittently drag the rear brakes on the highway until I turned TC/AH off.

In order for your ABS braking system to work as designed--you must retain as close as possible the difference between the front tire heights compared to the rear heights--as they were in stock trim---This difference is that the rears are 1"taller than the fronts---IF you ever alter this split from rear to front your ABS braking system will not work as designed
This is also NOT tunable---- Some don't care if their ABS does not work 100% This is your call and your safety----Yes altering the stock 1" split from front to rear may give your car a sweeter stance--just be prepared on a hi speed stop you will not have ABS to save your life

It would decrease under-steer and increase over-steer in cornering. It is not the ballance I would be looking for in a Z06.

I'd consider 285-35-17 probably, before 40's... even the 265-40's look at bit big compared to the rears. 35 aspect ratio will also hold you within the recommended 1 1/2" max difference front to back.
