Default Is a T56 for a C6 the same as a T56 for a C5?

My tranny is toast. Gears welded to shafts, stuff broken. It's a mess.

There is a 5k mile T56 available locally, but it's from a 2005. Will it work in my car?

Thanks!

Edit- Is there anything in particular I should look for? Any test or anything that can be done with the tranny out of the vehicle to make sure it's OK?

I've read that people swap C5 differentials into a 2005 C6 which means the differential end is the same. Other people swap the whole C6 transmission/differential/rear crossmemeber setup into their C5's which means the input side is the same. I'd think it would work.

Gear ratios are the same between the base C5 and C6, so in theory you could do that. The Z06 models have different ratios.
