LPE Heads with a Cartek or other Cam
Is anyone running LPE Z06 heads with a Cartek cam, or have a recommendation for what to run. I am looking at a set of Stage III LPE Z06 heads, but don't know what would be the best cam to go with, or how to go about matching the cam to the heads.
I'm looking for 450 RWHP with good drivability, LT headers, and intake.

Your better off going with a complete package from Cartek,I wouldn't mix and match different tuners heads and cams.Cartek just had another one of there X-packages go in the tens today, this package is the way to go for a 346 LS1.

I don't know why people constantly want to mix untested components
Like Stealth said........what makes the Cartek cam work is the complemented cylinder heads. In order to make a 346 make the power that we do, you need to have everything working just right. I got several E-mails over the past couple of weeks where people see the times and all they want is the cam thinking that's all they need to pull off the 11.00 numbers.
LPE makes a decent set of heads but there is not positive results with mixing the Cartek cams.

If heads are ported the same, have the same size valves, same rods, rockers, and springs would they really be that different from one tuner to the oter?

The porting of the heads is their specialty, I dont think youll find anyone that does the job CARTEK does on their heads (very intricate). Just my opinion. But, whatever you do, call Dave and ask him his thoughts on the mix and match before you buy LPE heads. :yesnod:

If you want to use the LPE heads then LPE would be the logical choice to ask about what cam would produce the results you want. Without the knowedge of the flow characteristics of these heads and the experience of seeing what works best with these heads, others would be hard pressed to give an opinion that was much more than a guess.

Re: LPE Heads with a Cartek or other Cam (SFVetteman)
Sounds like good advice. So far I have just been working with a friend on it. I was just hoping someone had some experience with a good LPE head/cam combo to make about 450RWHP.
Has anyone see LPE heads on a stock internals engine get close to 450RWHP?
