Default Attempting an 11 sec 1/4 mile in a stock 2001 Z06

I see Ranger and some others running sick numbers deep into the 11's in their basically stock 2002 Z06's. Congradulations to them, but I have had enough of it from these 2002 Z06's :cheers

Here's the deal. I have a 2001 Z06 and haven't taken it to the track since the summer of '01 when I bought it new. In 90 degree heat and not broken in all the way it ran 12.55 @ 114.75 with a 2.0 60 foot. When the weather cooled last fall, my 2001 Z06 dynoed 360 rwhp and 363 rwtq at Speedworks in Lewisville, Texas on the same day as other vettes and made more power than the stock 02 Z06's that preceeded my 3 pulls. Maybe mine is a factory ringer, who cares, it is an 01 and from what I can tell it is one of the stronger ones in the country, so why should those 2002 Z06's have all the 11 second glory?

The only mod I have is a Donaldson Blackwing and a B&M Ripper.
What I would like to do is run 11's in my 2001 Z06 with just my Donaldson on there and then try it with the stock airbox. The only problem is my 60 foot is horrible because of my street tires. Would anyone in the DFW area lend me your drag radial/wheels to get this stock 2001 Z06 into the 11's for this one time before the last race of the season?

I'm going to Ennis, Tx in the early evening on Friday Nov 15 to run before the track gets too slippery from the leaking ricers.

Just thought I'd ask before I go down there this Friday. Without tires I'm gonna try to run 12.30's.

I know we're all family here, but any 2001 Z06 owners want some friendly revenge on the 2002 Z06's? If I could stay within 2 tenths and 2 mph from Ranger's numbers than that's all I can ask for, I just need some traction:)

Thanks

114.XX MPH is pretty much there. Put some tires on the car and you have your 11's. You will need tires for the times though. If you look at all the people running fast, they have rear ends and tires! :smash:

Good luch and let us know when you hit them.

I run 11.9 @ 113 in my 01' Z06.

All I had was the Vortex Rammer and slicks. I was also running the exhaust off of a 1999 C5. I had to remove my normal exhaust so I could take my car in for warranty (normally I have no cats) So I borrowed a friends exhaust (quick brick) to put on while my ar was getting warranty work done.

In the end I ran 11.9 @ 113....I know the exhaust is killing me right now because before I was running 12.0 at 118 on street tires

Either way...if you come to the track on Friday I don't mind if you want to use the slicks.

You can do it with that HP.

The only thing required is to slip the clutch a bit more. Also, as you have probably read. The hot ticket on the F1SCs is to drop the rear air pressure to about 22-25 psi.

DOn't dump the clutch just release a bit slower. Try about 2500-3000 that should net you about a 1.9 60' and get you into the 11.9's in good weather.

I leave a bit harder. (4700-5200) but my car will 60' 1.7s on the stock radials also.

I am in Houston, and I don't have any drag radials you can borrow though... Sorry. Only ET Streets.

Hell Yeah. That's cool. I'm running AVS Yokohamas right now, but there is a set of supercars in my garage waiting for these to wear out. I pulled some 1.80s the week after I bought the car July 2001 in Texas, yes, it was hot out, but because it was around 1200 miles on the clock I only ran 12.8's @ 110. When I ran 12.5 @ 114.75 it had more miles on it, not sure, have to check my records, but I know I could not get better than 2.0 60 ft that day because of track conditions. I can launch the Z06 pretty well on the street and know to ride the clutch a little for the best launch without bogging, so I think I should be able to do it.

Be on the lookout for a quicksilver Z06 with lot o rubber on the rear quarter :) I wear a silver helmet with a single black T on it.

See ya'll at Ennis on Friday.

BTW, I have close to 100 passes under my belt in my Buick, so I'm all about cutting a good light:) :smash:

I made the car gods mad. :mad

First, the Buick snapped the tranny a week ago. 650 cranktq plus a stock torque converter = no worky for long :smash:

Second, I now own two broken vehicles out of three. I guess it is all because I haven't washed the Z06 in two weeks (maybe even three?). I changed the oil last night, getting ready to go to the track today to make my attempt at 11's in my 360 rwhp 363 rwtq stock-like 01. So, after I changed the oil, I backed it out and it got stuck in 4th gear. :cuss I have been to the dealer 4 times already for this same problem and also for bad synchros. I don't drive it hard, I haven't raced it too much. I try to double clutch when I can and don't shift very fast at all in daily driving. :cry

I'm still on the original tranny. They keep trying to fix it. Service rep is going to try to get me a new tranny this time around.
