Who is running 16" slicks?
I have a set of 26" slick mounted on 6 cyl firebird rims. They rub like no tomorrow. The slicks are hitting on top of the bolt that holds my suspension knuckle. Do I have to get spacers? Doesnt seem safe to grind that bolt that hold the suspension... Suggestions please...

Not sure, but I'd like to know as I bought a set of Firebird rims, and will be getting E/T streets very soon.

The "proper" way to get the clearance is to mill the inside of the rim slightly, and if necessary grind carefully the top edge of the ball joint cap. This does not seem to effect the reliability of the ball joint or A-frame. I have both the 8" Firebird rims and 9.5" Corvette rims (84-87) done this way and have no problems.

Have a set of Firebird 16x8 with Hoosier 28x10.5x16 Drag Slicks. Calipers needed minor grinding along with control arm.

I run 16x11.5x26 ET Streets on 86 Vette wheels at the track. They did rub the top and bottom A-arms. Yes, I think the proper way would be to mill the rims. I didn't have the time or money to do that so I got out my trusty grinder and ground down the top of the A-arm. I also had to grind a little on the bottom. The only rubbing I have now, is a little against the fender well plastic if I hit large bumps on the way to the track. No rubbing while running at the track. BTW the ET Streets hook really well. They helped put me in the 11's.
