Are Mcleod clutches a hit or miss?
I'm currently trying to decide on a clutch that will hold at least 800hp reliably and fairly priced... So the Mcleod RST and RXT keep popping up buuut, it seems like some people have great results and some just no luck at all with them hmmm, but then I notice alot of the bad reviews are old...so idk if they better or worse now lol
You guys out there running Mcleod or have had it, let me know is it worth me getting? Mantic is a bit out of my range but if really that's my only reliable option I guess I can make it happen in due time.
* Car (04 c5) currently has a ls7 clutch which I doubt will hold that power...Car is just a weekend warrior, no full time drag strip, maybe once or twice a year...
*Currently leaning towards the RST.

Simple answer yes. Some get lucky some don't. A lot chatter and a lot with none.

I have the RST. Mild chatter only starting from a stop in 1st gear. Otherwise drive is 100% like stock. Clutch still has less than 1k miles over the last couple years. Chatter has reduced with some break-in and practice modulating 1st from a stop.
Would I buy it again? Yes.

My experience with my RXT Clutch has been exactly the same as ~Josh's above with his RST. Down to chatter reducing, and practicing the take off from 1st(I always just leave off idle with no throttle input, but it seemed to need a tiny bit of throttle, talking like a miniscule amount to have absolutely perfectly quiet movement like a factory clutch, I just chalked it up to being something to adjust to like when I've tried non-OEM clutches in the past).
The feel is great, mine feels heavy but so did my stock LS6 Clutch, mainly because I upgraded to a Tick MC a long time ago. My experiences have mainly been with upgrading LS1 Fbody OEM clutches to LS7 LUK Clutches over the years, and this is my first twin disc, no complaints whatsoever on my end. I also had the same exact worries as you because I was doing my due diligence while the clutch and supercharger was getting installed and started worrying I made a bad choice when reading about the issues some had with it. RXT though has held up amazingly so far with a few thousand miles on it now. No track use, just standing up to daily driver duties with somewhat often redline shifts when there's an open and empty road.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy another RXT or go to an RST if need be(I only went with an RXT for the 'in case' situation of me wanting more power down the road).

Do you guys think the RST will hold around 900whp? This is a non drag car or track car, just a weekend warrior but I'm not scared to give it hell lol

If I'm remembering right the RST is supposed to be able to hold up to 800 crank horsepower. Could be wrong but that's what I remember. If that's the case, if you're making a clean 100hp at the wheels over what it would be rated at the crank, I'd say don't bother and go up one more level to the RXT. I'm only making around 600 or so with a bolt on kit for the time being, but didn't want to end up having to go through with buying another twin disc clutch if/when I decide to bump power down the road again.
