Whoa. That's a new one on me. My 2003 certainly doesn't look like that. It must be the export version.

I've never seen anything like it, I would consider an after market bridge with a silicon couple I can't imagine what this is doing to the airflow.

Thats similar to the silencer they use on an F-body. Must be export regulations..

I guess you guys are right about the silencer and export noise regulations! Interestingly european 02s still came with the normal airbridge.

BTW, I already have a Vortex Power Duct and a Donaldson Blackwing waiting in my garage! Now that my car is broken in... let the mods begin!!!  :smash:

I saw pics of this recently on another export, and parts locator told me it is used to reduce / silence incoming air flow.

Interesting, I've never seen that before. The stock Vette is so quiet as is, why would that be required?

What's the impact to performance?

Another thing I noticed is the very small intake opening in the airfilter cover:
FWIW, the airfilter box, also has holes in the back also.

I live in Germany and a buddy I meet at the Nurburgring with a 2000 or 2001 has that silencer style air bridge.

Not on my 03' either. Why would anyone want the stock C5 any quieter? Not enough to do for government bureaucrats? :chevy

I dont get this, some 02´s I have seen have this big airbridge but some doesn`t and they are both produced for the export market

Is there an good explanation for this?

CR555 are you sure it was not an extra option

The big airbridge is not an extra option!

Bummer! Very mysterious indeed that some exports come with it and some don't?

Anyway, I checked out some other 2k3s that were in the showroom, and they all had the same airbridge as my car, whereas the 2k2s came with the normal one.

My GM dealer could not give me any useful information about that :skep: "bread box" :skep:
(can't think of a more suitable name for it! :jester ).

:seeya

Never saw one like that before. Like others have said, must be the export version.
