Aftermarket exhaust "popping" on deceleration
Do all aftermarket exhaust systems have a "popping" sound on deceleration? I have Borla Stingers and I love the sound at idle and on acceleration but the "popping" on deceleration IMO is not desirable. I added an X-pipe and this helped a little.

Corsa Indy's w/X pipe to "POP" on deceleration...but I don't find it objectionable.

The X-Pipe will eliminate about 50% of the popping. Some like it other's do not. The only other way to avoid the popping is to eliminate and engine braking when slowing down. Yea right - like that's going to happen.
Good luck.

I had a fairly noticeable popping racket going on when I had Corsa Tourings and the factory H-pipe. Didn't like it. Installed a Magnaflow X-pipe and though muffled the distinct pop noise was still there.
Sold the Corsa's and went with Stingers....Yeah Baby!!! :D
The popping racket is gone but is now replaced with muffled explosions
I like the noise now!!! :D

Re: Aftermarket exhaust "popping" on deceleration (NO2)
My Corsa Tourings pop and I sort of accept it. I replaced the Tourings with Stingers, but in my 99 hardtop they were really loud. Put the Tourings back on. Forgive me, but my C-5 is a daily driver and the Stingers were really more than I could handle. You have to appreciate my generation. I drove a 63 Split Window new in 63. :lurk:

I think the popping is just unburned fuel.
In the sixties they used to have a set of spark plugs mounted in each tail pipe at the rear that would ignite the unburned fuel and blow 3 foot flames out the back. Way cool :steering:

My Bassani's pop some to but it doesn't bother me. I'm going for the X pipe
soon but mainly because I'm bleeding the clutch and the exhaust has to come down anyway might as well put something new back on.
I'm from about the same school as you on that '63. Drove it in '66 and I'm still driving it today with '65 to '67 sidepipes. Yes it is alittle loud but that is
OK.

Re: Aftermarket exhaust "popping" on deceleration (NO2)
A Corsa Indy Pace System with Pro Tips and Corsa X pipe was recently installed on my 2003 and the stated popping sound on deacceleration is also present. Has anyone discussed this issue with Corsa customer service or R & D?

I've got the Borla XR-1 system on my Z06 and it sounds great to me! Really great sound and very aggresive. Love the "popping" that happens on occasion when declelerating.

With the SLP Loudmouths, popping on deceleration is quite abit louder than the popping with the stock exhaust.

corsa ti street + FLP w/hiflo cats = lots of popping on deceleration
corsa ti street + FLP w/o cats = probably more popping than without

PRT's here, almost no popping.
EVERY set of PRT's I've ever head pops, including both Corvettes I've had with them. And almost everyone I run with has PRT's. The only ones that don't are the ones with full headers and X pipes.
