GM Key FOB - is there any alternative
I have had it with the Key Fob craziness. I have two FOBS and cannot keep either one of them synced. Tried both sync methods - the DIC and lock and unlock. Is there an aftermarker system that replaces the FOBs. I can get FOBS for $75 from Chevy, but I really think it is a waste.
I have no problem with my tire sensors. I even tried disconnecting the battery in the car to reset.

you must have an aweful lot of RFI in your area - you know, like government radar installations and new defense jamming systems :D
Have you tried new batteries? If that doesn't do it, and the TPM system works OK, the only thing you could do is put in an aftermarket alarm which would use it's fobs.

I have had problems with this as well. Just recently started up. Do you use a radar detector?
I am wondering if they can become unsyched do to other vets in the area or just other car alarms in general?

This is a joke. We have a BMW and the key has the FOB built into the unit. Absolutely no problems. I guess I'll bite the bullet and buy a new FOB. I have no radar detector. Same symptoms others have. Basically the FOB appears to have a mind of its own. I took it apart yesterday and get three volts on the contacts. I even put dielectric grease on the contacts to see if they really make contact. The unit is a piece of !@#$, plain and simple. In addition, my extra FOB did not have both contacts. Tried switching contacts but this did not work.

When I've had problems with my FOBs, its been corrected only after I reprogrammed them to the car. This was usually required if I lost battery power or voltage level was low. Only once or maybe twice have I truly lost sync and pressing the lock/unlock buttons together until the horn sounded has worked to correct the problem. However, the previous times due to power issues, the sync would not work, at all.

I am quite interested in alternatives as well. Has anyone tried using anything different? If so, what did you use and what were your results?

Re: GM Key FOB - is there any alternative (RJ98Vette)
I had numerous problems with my 98 FOB and got 3 new fob's on ebay and now everything is error free!!! I payed anywhere from a high price of $40 for a unused new FOB to a low of $28 for a slightly used fob. The ones for 2001-2003 are going for around $15-$20. You cant beat that!!!!
Now I have 3 for the 98 and 3 for the ZO6.
