Default Active handling

Has anyone else experienced a problem with the active handling where it
activates under light driving conditions? I know it's only supposed to come on
under extreme driving conditions, but mine will sometimes activate while I'm
making a slow turn, and it causes the "Service active handling soon"
message to appear in the DIC. I haven't taken it in yet because after the engine is stopped and restarted there's no indication that a problem exists.
However, it now is occurring more frequently, and even if I turn off Active
Handling, it will still activate sometimes on the slow turns. It's become a real nuisance, so I'm going to have to take it in to be serviced. I was just
wondering if anyone else has had this problem, and if so, what should
I expect the outcome to be? Thanks for your help.

Default Re: Active handling (2002c5blackcoupe)

I would not mess around with a service active handling message. The steering sensor, or yaw sensor could be malfunctioning. If this happens at highway speeds and the car thinks it is out of control when it is not, active handling could send the car out of control! I would get it looked at no matter how much I dread taking the car to the dealer. It is better than crashing or damaging your car! Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

PS You can look up the codes in the DIC to see what exactly is malfunctioning. There is a "how-to" in the tech tips section of the forum.

Default Re: Active handling (SAXN8R)

I'm with SAXN8R if you haven't messed with your tires. Note that if you have gone to an aftermarket setup and put the wrong size tires on, you could be making your own problems.
