What kind of headers?
I have a 2000 roadster with an automatic and am interested in installing headers. The only mod I have made to date is a carbon fiber power duct and a blackwing and the exhaust mod from A & A. Which headers are best? I am concerned with fit as well as performance. What is the difference in "shorty's" vs "long tubes" - other than the obvious? Do headers void your factory warranty? Stainless vs coated?

Re: What kind of headers? (vlevick)
don't know what's "best" but I know what route I took ;) :D...and welcome to the area, we have plenty of events and like to get together and race often, be sure to check out the SE section
I prefer s/s but I'm getting mine coated as well to keep the temps down, and shorty's do nothing for ya...pass on them!
Try a search of this section, as there's plenty of reading that can get ya up to speed

Vlevick,
Which headers are the best?
You'll get as many opinions on this as there are belly-buttons. I like the FLPs and just installed them on my 99' roadster.
I am concerned with fit as well as performance.
Mine fit very well overall, good alignment and easy on and together.
What is the difference in "shorty's" vs "long tubes" - other than the obvious?
Don't know the technical answer, but I think more torque and overalll power with the LT's.
Do headers void your factory warranty?
Nope.
Stainless vs coated?
Definitely coated if you don't have S/S, but I would coat them either way.

Re: What kind of headers? (Mean Green 2000)
Mean Green 2000,
I just noticed you are in the "Tampa Bay Mis-Fits". I live in St. Petersburg (Old N.E.). A couple of months ago a guy drove by (in a black ZO6) and saw my garage door open in my alley. My Rally Red '66 427 roadster caught his eye and he stopped to take a look. He told me about the "Mis-Fits". I told him I really wasn't a "club person" and did not enjoy having so called Corvette "experts" pick my car apart. I love my cars. Anyway...I was so impressed with his black ZO6 - I had to get one. I wound up settling on a 2000 "triple black" roadster. I didn't want to give up being able to "drop the top" and an automatic is better for me (I have the early stages of Parkinsons Disease). I love the car! My wife loves the car!! Thanks to the "Mis-Fit" that stopped by to admire my '66. If he hadn't I would probably have never even looked at a C5.

Re: What kind of headers? (skidmarc)
I would shy away from FLP headers they are having quality issues big time!

Re: What kind of headers? (vlevick)
and that's the best thing about the Misfits ;)...we're not a lucb, simply a group of people who frequent this and other boards that never fit into a club :D We have no meetings, no dues, no president, treasurer, etc.....just a little web site, an email list and letting people know what's going on in the area.....come to what you want, don't for the rest :D
SE.....South East Section :D
What do you mean "the S.E. section?

Re: What kind of headers? (vlevick)
I also have a 2000 Auto with few bolt on's. I went with TPIS LT and I am pretty confident that I lost low end torque and HP. I may have gained some above 3 to 4K rpm but how often do you drive that hard...and it's difficult with an auto.
I am leaning towards TTS which has 1 5/8" vs 1 3/4" Then again TTS is very expensive and nearing FLP price. But isn't FLP set up do the same for my low end torque???
Good luck
