Default ET Street guys, would you put a 26x11.5x16 on a 16x8 rim?

specs call for a 9" rim. It's too hard to pass up the 1.5 extra inches of tread patch over the 26x10x16's. I am buying 99 Firebird 16x8 5spoke rims off ebay for real cheap and want to put the 11.5 wide ET's on. your thoughts.

That is my current set-up. Have not had any problems. I have made at least 50 passes so far.

An added plus is that the Firebird rims/ ET Streets combo feel much lighter than the stock rears...

John at CCW told me to buy 16X9.5 86-88 C4 wheels to use with the 26X11.5" tire. I bought them off of ebay for $150. 8" width wheel is to narrow.

The stickers on my 26x11.5x16 et streets said approved rim sizes 8"-10". For a 8" rim though, I would use the 10.5s unless you plan on buying CCWs soon. Oh and the F body rim with 10.5 et street weighs about 36lbs. The CCW 10" rim with 11.5" et street is 42lbs.

damnn, what to do...so far half of you say the 11.5 ET will work fine on the Firebird 16x8 rim w/out issues. the other half say too small. I am not finding a whole lot of 16x9 C4 rims FS on Ebay. WHAT TO DO????

Robert, I run the MT streets without tubes.
Most of us do.

But I would do the Hoosier slicks if I were you.
Just get the best traction you can buy.

No tubes. You will not have pressure low enough to need them.

I have used firebird wheels but I think it was the 10.5 ET Street though.

I went ahead and cancelled the inner tubes. saved me nearly $100. so, one more time, ttt, the 11.5 wide ET's dont bulge out too much on 16x8 rims, or cause any other problems??? thanks, guys, you really help...

8" wheels are to out of specs. for me with that size. I talked to a Tech at M/T and they recommended 9.5 - 11.0 for the new 17x11.5x17!
