Default Climate Control Backlighting

The backlighting for my A/C button appears to be out. I'm not talking about the LED that says whether the A/C is on or off but rather the lighting that allows you tell what the button is for. At night the button is indistinguishable whereas all the other buttons are lit.

Can just this bulb (or whatever it is) be replaced or is a whole new climate control (dual zone auto) head unit required?

It's been a while and I'm going off memory here :nonod: , but when I had mine apart, I think the buttons are individually illuminated by a tiny bulb soldered in a circut bard behind each individual button. Not likely you be able to find a bulb in any electronics store like them.

Son of a... :mad There's one on e-bay for $150 but it's not worth it to have the A/C backlight work.

It can't be that hard to simply unsolder the old LED and put in a new one. If you aren't electronically inclined I'm sure you can get a local electonic repairperson to do it for little to no cost. Much better then 150+ for a new one just to replace a burned out light.

I suppose it couldn't hurt to take it apart and see what I'm dealing with. If it's not too tiny I'm sure I could do it.

thats the spirit :). I changed all the LED's on my supra from greenish/yellow color to a hyper white/blue like the gauge backlighting on C5's. It turned out really well and wasn't to bad at all.
