Why do you need to change it? I've never been able to have the guys with a tech2 change it, though it might be able to be done...

When i had my IPC replaced two months ago they(the dealer) had to order it from the factory with the milage pre-programed in.
The Tech 2 might be able to do it but i doubt it since that make milage tampering way too easy to do.......JMO.

Re: where is the mileage stored ???? (97C5ENVY)
ODOMETER -- The IPC determines vehicle odometer mileage based on Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) data sent by the PCM. The IPC permanently stores this information in memory and displays the calculated amount on the IPC. The IPC also sends this information on the serial data line to other systems requesting this information. If a odometer malfunction occurs, or if the IPC must be replaced, an authorized repair center should be contacted to program the proper odometer mileage in the IPC. :flag

What the guy is doing is illeagal you can not change the mileage on a car just because you swap out a motor. You have to keep the correct mileage for the chassis.
If he just wants to record the mileage, then when you plug in the cluster with the heads up you will get it.
