Default Which LT Headers Run All the Way to the Catback?

Title says it all. Which long tube headers include all the exhaust system back to the catback exhaust? Which ones come with high flow cats, x-pipe, etc?

Also, which give the best gains for a stock engine or one with a moderate heads/cam?

I believe the FLP system does run all the way back.
I think LG's do as well, but I'm not sure if they cost extra to buy the cats? What about the new LG system coming out?
Any others?

Stainlessworks has a system that runs way past the cats. See MattG's new setup in his car.

Our system does currently run all the way to the catback. The complete system includes the headers, the x-pipe, and the "mid pipes" to go all the way to the catback.

Is that true for your current system, or both your current and the newer system I've heard is coming soon?

The LG production headers (the newer system) goes all the way to the cat back. The regular headers if I'm not mistaken only go to the cats.

The FLP's run all the way to the catback system.

With hi-flo cats

With ORP's

The system

I have a set of these I'm putting in along with McCord electric cutouts. They're built by FLP especially for their system. :D

The common misconception is the definition of "Long Tube" headers.

Our LG Headers have 32 " primary tubes. that is a true Long Tube. All of the other headers on the market have between 18-21" primaries. That is the main reason that our headers produce the huge low end hp and tq increases.

Many independent tests have come up with the same results. They are as follows: In peak hp, the LG Longtube headers match or exceed all other headers on the market. But in the 3000 rpm area +/- the LG headers produce roughly 30ft lbs More torque than the competitors headers.

Plus our system is a full 3" system all the way to the cat back mufflers rather than 2 1/2" size of most others, including our 3" high flow cats. Plus having the X pipe closer to the collectors is an advantage in the performance on the x pipe.

Thanks,

Lou G

According to a header length calculator, for a 436ci. at 6800 RPM, it tells me I need 1 3/4" tubes 40" long and 1 7/8 tubes 35" long.
So where can I find someone to build me a set of headers with 1 7/8" primary tubes 32" long?
That would be pretty close to the optimal size for my engine.

Lou? :D

Lou, is that true? I thought both of your systems were full length?

BTW, with the full length systems, is any welding required? Semms like they wouldn't require any.

You'd need a custom faricated set. Plan on spending some jack. The longest headers I have seen someone build on a street car were 38" primaries. You can't go much longer than tat since the header will be past the point where the cats go, and the fits would be really tough. Wheel to Wheel has stainlessworks actually build their headers, but on a one off basis they might do something for you.

I tried to buy a set of long tubes from stanlessworks that were 38" long primaries, without any collectors, and Stainlessworks wouldn't sell them to me.

Actually you could buy the flanges, and a local chassis shop could most likely fab them for you. I have several guys who fab headers on the car, you simply but some flanges and a bunch of mandrel bends and they build them for you.

Anyhow, once you do the math, and then look at tube length etc... you can't beat the LGMs. Best production system out there...

FLP, LGM, Grizzly all go all the way back to catback.

J-Rod, I think you misread my post. I didn't mean the headers themselves had to extend all the way back, I just want a set that replaces everything rather than one that requires me to weld it in since i can't weld.

Part of the response was to you, and part of it was to FlyinBrian who was asking for some really long long-tubes.

Anyhow, as already stated, LGM has a system that goes all the way to the stock mufflers. I would consider this the best system out there, and recommend it over any of the other current header systems.

i don't think Stainless Works sells any that run all the way back to the rear axle. they do sell lt headers for the c5, and they do sell an exhaust system, but i don't think thats what the original question referred to.

Random Tech has cats and X pipe for the TPIS headers to replace all exhaust pipe to the cat back. Random has very quality work

I recently ordered the new LGM Long Tube system produced by Borla. It's a complete bolt in system from header all the way to the cat back which includes merge style collectors, a 3" x-pipe, and the mid pipes to connect to your existing cat back. It's going to be sweet!
