Default Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF

Has anyone ever tried Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF in their MN6?

I put it in mine. I didn't notice a difference in shift feel, like many other forum members claim (mod mania???). I'll say one thing, it smells awful. Like a barbeque in Hell.

I switched to Mobil1 ATF and love the smoother shifts that resulted.

It made a difference in our 98 after about the first 100 miles or so. Before the car was hard to get into reverse and would sometimes grind when engaging first from a stoplight. Ever since the break in with Mobil 1 it has been silky smooth.

Used Mobil-1 in my MN6 2001 Vette. Smooth shifts BUT at 8k miles the tranny got noisier (severe marbles in a can). A Tremec engineer told me they have not tested synthetic ATF with the carbon blocking rings and they recommend Dextron III (stock fluid). The fluid was fairly black when I drained it so maybe the syn. fluid is bad for the blocking rings. :bb

I switched from the factory fill to Mobil 1 ATF in my '00 6spd at 36k while having most of the other fluids in my car changed (engine oil, rear diff, brake/clutch fluid, etc).

:iagree: with others. My transmission shifts smoother. From memory, I remember shifting into reverse taking a bit more effort before, and the shifting being more "notchy". Who knows, that could be just the fact that I changed the fluid in the transmission--maybe the OEM DEXRON III ATF was done?

That said, I don't know diddly about any effect on the internals. I do believe that Mobil 1 synthetic ATF meets/exceeds DEXRON III. For whatever that is worth, I'd recommend it. I have an extended warranty, therefore, if something frags outside of wear/tear--at least I'm still using something within spec. Am I wrong in this guess?

I changed both the rear diff and M6 to Mobil 1 a few weeks ago in my 00 FRC. I've had smother shifts and less noise. It's also improved my problems with 1st gear. :chevy

I have not tried it in the C5, but did change to Mobile-1 ATF in my 5 speed Chevy truck and it made a world of difference, shifts better than new at 150K miles.

Heat is a big problem with the MN6/12. Syntheic trans fluid (Dextron III) works great. Mobil 1, AMS, Redline, Royal Purple, and GM syntheic trans fluid are all outstanding products, with forum members having great results, comes down to presonal preferance.

99 MM6 50.000 miles I changed the tranny and the rear - end with Mobil I products. Now have 55,000 miles and everything is A - OK. Seems to be quieter and seems to shift easier.

Does anyone happen to know if GM Synchromesh is fully synthetic? I assume that the stock Dexron stuff isnt...
