Shortblock assembly
Would the steps/procedures for assembling a SBC be good enough for assembling an LSx shortblock? I have found a couple good books on assembling a SBC.

Go to Borders and get the book "LS1/Ls6" it covers everything you ever wanted to know about those engines and it has pictures too.

The basic steps are very similar, but there are many tricks thats are LS1-specific but engine builders usually keep to themselves.
The LS1 book mentioned that was wrote by Chris Endres is very good, but it is not a step by step instructional on how to build an LS1 from scratch.

But still, how hard could it be? Other than all the sensors, and LS1 is basically a SBC.
Don't get me wrong, I have never built my own LS1, but I have seen many in different stages of assembly.

Keith, my offer is still good.
I procured a torque angle meter. One of these days I'll head up to the Denver Library and photocopy the engine sections out of the service manual.

Actually, except for the bore spacing, there isn't a thing in common with a Classic SBC and an LS1. LT1s in 92-96 Vettes were very similar to SBCs, but LS1s are a whole different animal ( Different block {design and material}, different bore and stroke, different oiling system, ignition system, heads, intake ...etc. )
Well you get the idea. Basic engine building techniques are applicable, but none of the years of SBC tips and techniques will apply.
