Just wondering. I love Corvettes, but I am still looking at buying a Mustang Cobra or a Toyota Supra tt. I know both Vettes and Supras are in a different class the 03' Cobras, but the Cobras have tons of power. I know what it takes to get a 03' Cobra or 97' Supra tt into the 11s, but not a Vette. I also know both of these cars can be 600+rwhp easy, what "safe" mods can I do to get a Vette to say atleast 400+rwhp? (I do have a budget)

Any help?

Ohh, and I can't get a Z06.

You dont want a Supra to run the 1/4 mile.

What kind of Vette are you talking about? Z06? All you need to get a Z06 in the 11s is good driver and tires.

If you really just want to do 1/4 mile, get an old 5.0 Mustang. A Vette is a better overall car that the others you mentioned.

No Z06. I want to outrun 03' Cobras and Supras. I don't mean stock ones though, $1500 in mods and an 03' Cobra can be at 450rwhp, what would it take to get a Vette like that safely?

When I had 420rwhp in my Vette, I was beating 2 03 Cobras, one with 500 and one with 515rwhp.

It took me intake, headers, exhaust, and cam to get to 420rwhp.

Cobras are heavy pigs and handle like poopie. Same is true for a Supra. You can get a Supra to 440rwhp cheaply but a 420rwhp Vette will beat a 440rwhp Supra every time.

Ok, I want a well rounded car. It will be a DD and I want alot of rwhp. I don't plan on running at the strip much. I was saying 11s because I know that for the other two cars to ru n11s it means 450+rwhp.

Its mainly about rwhp, not times. I do my running not just at the strip.

All a Coupe or Vert needs is a mild cam to run 11's :cheers: If you want to run mid 10s for under 10,000... Just go to Cartek for there Stage 2-X Rev. 2 Package, or wait a little and then get the stage 3-X that they are developing to run super low times in :cheers:

I prefer a 6 speed... so here it goes with absolute bare minimum....

1. Vararam Intake
2. Long Tube Headers
3. Cat back Exhaust
4. 4.10 gears with hardened shaft
5. LS1edit Dyno Tuned
6. ET Street Drag Tires
7. Good Damn Driver

Even if you skip items 2 and 3 you could still see 11.99 on a good night..

I really want atleast 400+rwhp, ohh I am looking to get a 6-speed 2000- 2001 coupe.

I have a Z06 though. On a LS1, it would be around 400rwhp and be right near one of those Supras or Cobras.

Headers and off road pipe - 900
vortex intake - 250
cam installed - 1100
borla stingers - 450

HP is not the end all for a quick car..

There are many who have gotten DEEP into the 11's with significantly less than 400rwhp..

I have all the mods I listed and I dyno'd 10hp less than a 405hp Z06.. The 10hp loss attributed to the gears..

Anyway.. The are tons of Z06 with DR's in the 11's

Plus I pull harder in 4th gear with 4.10's than a Z06 in 4th... :smash:

The Vette Doctors, Cartek, LG Motorsports, and MTI are all very good shops, any one of them will install a cam and tune it for a very reasonable price, and all should put you into the 11's safely... Not reliablity issues that I have heard of w/ any of the tuners I stated above... Even if there was one, the tuner did a good job w/ there costomer service so ther was no problem... :cheers:
And all tuners that I mentioned above are located at the left side of the screen... And East coast supercharging is one of the best tuners in america also located on the left side of the screen, but i haven't heard to many NA stories from them, but they do have the fastest Supercharged vette in the Country :cheers:

Contact MMT. They had a cam only non Z06 go 10.87 in the 1/4 mile.

Wow. 10.87?? Cam only?? :lolg: I think there was some Juice involved. I think some long tubes, a cam and a 100 shot would give you some high 11's.

Converter installed about $1000
4.10 gear installed about $1000
ET Street package about $1700 (you can use drag radials at half the cost or better)
LS6 manifold (I forget cost)
Pro Flow intake $200
LS1 Edit tuning $500
roll bar/belts/jacket for the 11's priceless
.....sorry had to do it. It cost about $1500 for that.

10-second cam only cars usually have all the associated bolt-on items such as air intake, headers, cat-back exhaust, etc. I don't doubt the number stated above, as other tuners have also had cam only cars run 10s. Usually the people that don't believe that a car ran a number with the mods listed are just upset that their car can't do it.
