Which Oil Filter to use ?? PF44 or PF46
Went to my local parts store today that carries the AC Delco oil filters and they do not stock the PF 44 called for in my owners manual. They showed a PF 46 as a replacement. Is this correct????

Never heard of a PF46 before. I use the UPF44 Ultraguard on mine. I haven't seen these in auto parts stores and some of my local dealers look with the 'deer in the headlights' look when I ask them about one. You can get them at a discount from Fichtner Chev or possibly GMPartsDirect.com.

Yes, The number used to be 44 and was changed to 46. They are exactly the same filter.

The mobil1 is a good alternative as well.
Independant tests have shown the Mobil 1 doesn't flow as well as other filters, which is very critical in an engine which sees a lot of full throttle. The K&N HP1007 filter is one of the best flowing filters you can get.

hrm.. interesting! I just heard the Mobil1 filters very well.. wasn't sure about the flow issue. Where can you get K&N oil filters? I've yet to ever see one locally.

:iagree: K&N HP1007 is an awesome filter for about the same price as the Mobil. Patman would know.... :yesnod:

Patman convinced me to switch and I do see an increase in oil pressure.
