Default Autocross set up help needed

I went to my first autocross school last weekend and loved it. Now I want to make my stock 02 vert better. Can anyone make some suggestions about setting up on my car. I had previously purchased a set of ZO6 wheels but have not selected tires yet - any suggestions for a good street/autocross tire would be most helpful.

Maybe new swaybars, lowering? vararam?

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks,

Before doing ANYTHING to your car, you need to figure out what club you're going to run with and what their rules allow. If it's SCCA, go to http://www.scca.com/Solo/Solo.asp?Id...0&x=050|010&~= and read about their different classes, then order a 2004 rule book to understand what changes are allowed for each class. A simple intake change, like a VaraRam, can bump you from a stock class into a Street Prepared class where your car would not be competitive without substantial further changes/mods. You can be competitive at a local level in stock (SS for the C5) with a competition setup/alignment and some Kumho/Hoosier R-compound tires but the SP class requires significantly more investment in the car so understand the rules before changing anything you might later regret. Find a fellow Corvette owner in the local branch of the club you select and talk to him/her about what they'd suggest. Regardless, you're doing the right thing by taking schools - in autocross, performance is significantly more driver-dependent than car-dependent. (By the way, your Z06 wheels would be illegal in SCCA Super Stock, as an example.)

Definately go with Z06 or the T1 swaybars and springs, with Z06 shocks.
I'll be setting up for this next year myself so...

I would NOT recommend the QA1 shocks. Get Koni's instead. They're 10000X better- I know, I've used both.

Stay in the stock class for now. Most people pick up a set of used wagon wheels and shod them with cheap Kumho rubber. In stock class you can do:
-Any tire, as long as it's on the stock size wheel. Z06 wheels are NOT allowed on a non-Z06. I would suggest running the Z06 wheels for your street tire and the stockers for your race wheels.
-Any cat-back exhaust
-Any air filter (not the box!)
-Any shock as long is it's no more than 2 way adjustable
-Any FRONT sway bar

And that's basically it. For now, spend your money of seat time and tires. The rest of the mods are minor in comparison.
