Default Dash/Tail Lights Out - Fuse good. - ???

So I start my car tonight and the dash lights don't come on...check the tail lights (since I know they are on the same fuse) and they don't work.

Check the fuse but it's good. I notice that all the lights come on when I use the key fob to unlock the doors so they are still getting power. What is going on?

Um...which switch? I just had the same problem on my '99 tonight.

Is it the stalk switch?

Yup.....you can swith the lights on and off a few times and they should come on. I am still driving at night until the new switch comes in. $130 from GMpartsdirect.com

Thanks

Hmm...on the C4, the stalk had one pin connector to the column, and then you rotated it 1/4 turn and pulled it out.

The complicated part was the bright/dim switch and the turn signal switch, which were actually collars that sat inside the column below the airbag, lock retainer, etc.

Is it simple turn-pull out on a C5, or do you forsee having to remove the wheel, airbag, and collar...? I haven't looked at mine closely yet.

I am pretty sure you have to take the covers off the column and replace the whole unit. It plugs right in. According to the manual it seems to be only a few bolts.

Do your fog lights work? I experienced the same thing when I installed extra gauges to the dash dimmer but my fogs would not work as well. After disconnecting the extra gauges it took a week of use for the lights to function properly again. Go figure.

Hmm, i have a similar problem with my 97 at the moment, I can't TURN off my turn signals/brake lights and my dashboard lights! I lock the car and they are still on and even if the key is not in the igntion i can turn on my headlights on and off! I disconnected the battery for 7 hours and still no luck, pissing me off since i don't have time to take it to an electronic ATM since im working so damn much this week. and what fuse is the one that controls the turns and dashboard lights?

No fog lights here either (Z06).

Chris...it sounds to me like your flasher may be bad and it is stuck in the on position. Not real sure where it is at on the vette though but it usually in/around the fuse box on most cars. Anyone???
