Default Skip Shift Bypass question

I'm still getting random P0803 H C codes (skip shift solenoid). Since I have a skip shift bypass on the car I don't see how the PCM is sending this diagnostic message. Any ideas? Thanks

Only a guess, but maybe the bypass shorting out or only working intermittently. I would put the correct diode/resistor in there as a doublecheck, and see how that goes? The $.50 fix is available somewhere on this board.

All of the bypass mods are not GM authorized and can cause problems down the road.

The clip that plugs into the wiring harness should have a 2200-Ohm
resistor in it. Use a digital volt-ohm meter and test it. It's possible
that the resistor may have fried, and there is now an open circuit.

If so, you can replace the resistor by buying a new one at Radio Shack.
Get a package of 2.2k-Ohm 1/2-Watt resistors.

Just a simple resistor. Easy way to check is to stick a 2200 ohm resistor in the connector end, tape it up, and drive it for a while and see if the code persists or goes away for good.

Oh, and don't bother about the "down the road" comment: I've done this to a bunch of cars (the 2200 ohm and they've never caused a problem. Yours is the 2nd store bought one that I've heard of failing.

Have a good one,
Mike
