Default Help: Can I mix runflats with non-runflats?

I have a good pair of front runflats and I was just wondering if I can save some money and put non-runflats in the rear?

Thanks
James

Bad idea. The differences in compound, sidewall hardness and handling will make it squirrley. A friend of mine did this and told me his handling went to Hades. Someone here recently tried it also and had the same result.

From what I've investigated, the handling dynamics between runflats and non runflats are completely different. I would imagine that this would hinder the overall performance of your vette. You would be much better off to change all of them to non-runflats, or just bite the bullet and get the runflat replacements.
Just my $.02.

Not a good idea.. the side wall has a lot to do with handling characteristics.. in the case of a run flat, with a much stiffer side wall, and a non run flat, the car will not handle as well... It doesnt mean you cant get use to the difference... but it is generally not a good idea...

If you decide to sell the front run flats, let me know. You could also see about buying some good used EMT's for the rear.

I'm running stock run flats up front and ecsta mx in the rear. It does emphasise how much the run flats suck, but I think the car handles better. Especially off the line. I am going to switch to the same tire up front in a while, but figured I would make sure I liked the rears before I changed all 4.
