Default Magnasteer adjustment

Does anyone know if the magnasteer can be adjusted to be more firm? We tried to find how to do it with a Tech II tonight but could only find how to test that the magnasteer functions. Thanks in advance.

ttt... I'd like to know too. My car seems to sometimes not be as tight as it needs to be, other times it's the race car it should be.

Yes the Magna Steer can be adjusted.. there are settings in the TECH2 that modify the firmness / speed sensitivity. I'll see if I can find the info I had on and post it so you can try again w/ TECH2.

That'd be awesome... I might have to get my dealer tech to look at the settings. Can they change on their own? I'd think not, but you never now.

there is an add-on to the shop manual about this. It can't be adjusted.

And what's worse is I wish we could turn it down (less heavy) at speed!

That bites. My problem is that the steering is firm at low speeds but less firm at high speeds. On the highway it fells a little floaty.

Oh well, since this didn't pan out I guess I'll see what can be done by adjusting the alignment.

Thanks for the responses.

Everything is editable if it was written in computer language. I'm going to assume this applies for magnasteer settings as well. Some engineer wrote the code indicating how and when to firm up the steering based on various inputs. Therefore there has to be something that can read that portion of the ECM. May not necessarily be a Tech 2.

Mike, I called someone with some inside contacts regarding this. I'll let you know ASAP...

In the meantime, I e-mailed my alignment settings to Greg to take a look at. Maybe there's something I can change there to give a more stable feel at high speeds.
