Radio & HVAC lights...
Anyone else have certain lights on the buttons of the Radio and HVAC burned out? Not like all the button lighting is gone but approx 1/2 of them. Makes it fun to locate the defrost buttons at night.
My 99 C5 has dual climate control and bose cd.
I suppose I have to replace the radio and HVAC controls in order to make all radio and hvac buttons illuminate at night?

Both the radio and HVAC lights are soldered to a board inside the unit. If you are good with a soldering iron you can change out the bulbs yourself. If you don't feel comfortable doing this yourself you can take both to reputable shop and have them do it. I changed all of mine to blue LEDs.

Did you also get the brightness issue sorted out? I remember seeing a post you made when you first changed them regarding the intensity being to low, if I remember correctly.

Yes I got the brightness issue resolved. I used 470 ohm resistor with better leds and they are looking good. As far as the radio and ac controls you'll need to find which sidesare +/- because the led is one way. You'll also need a good soldering iron with a pointed tip for fine work. Also, you have to aim the bulbs where you want the light. I shaved some of the bulbs to defuse the light you a little more. Once you finish it's definitley worthwhile. the leds last about 10,000 hrs and you won't have to do it again.

Complete specs are:
Composition: InGaN
Color: Blue
Luminosity: 6000 ~7000 mcd
Lens: Water Clear
Viewing Angle 15°(degrees)
Forward Voltage: 3.3 ~3.5V
Reverse Voltage: 5.0V
Forward Current: 20mA
Soldering Temperature: 260°
Here's a pic, although a little blurry, that shows the final look.
