hard to shift into 2nd gear
2004 z06 12k miles.
Shifting from 1st to 2nd at low RPMs ~ 2500rpms usually no problem. if I want to accelerate quickly (like at an autocross event) and shift into 2nd at high RPMs ~ 4500+ it is very difficult to get the shift lever into 2nd gear. does not go in smoothly. I tried an experiment in driveway. indexed through all the gears with clutch depressed all the way... I am batting 50/50 on getting into 2nd gear smoothly vs hard to catch it. all other gears seem fine at any speed.
anyone have any insight?
thanks for the help.

mine runs smooth
Hey
I have been driven my z06 -03 with different driving styles, both very smoothly and on the other hand I have been doing some rough starts. When I launch off and rev it to the limiter on first gear I often just pull the stick rather hard and quick in to second. I have never had any problem with my gearbox. I think it it very easy to go from 1st to 2nd in a launch.
Pardon my english, I'm swedish

Burning Brakes
I had, and now have again, hard shifting in all gears.
The lever action is like OUT-STOP-IN. It never just goes smoothly from one gear to another and FORGET power shifting.
I argued with the stealership "Vette expert" who claimed "it felt normal" to him, finally got him to bleed the clutch and it felt substantially better. But it's getting bad again. Having the problem in only one gear doesn't make sense, but you might want to look at bleeding the clutch. I'm going back again in a week or so and raise some hell until it's perfect. I'm afraid that the poor clutch action is prematurely wearing the synchros. Transmission experts please speak up.

2004 Z06 here as well. Its got 4K miles but since new it has shifted "weird" into 2nd gear. The best I can describe it is it feels like a cam-lobe somewhere in the mechanism whereby it doesnt want to go into second initially and then slides in. Usually acts up when the car/tranny are cold and is better warm. Also, its better at higher RPM for me than low/mid. If I double-clutch or rev-match, it goes in like butter.
Mine sounds like synchro's too but since new???

Melting Slicks
Also about 4k miles since new, and have noticed very stiff shifting into second and third when cold. After about 15 minutes of driving it loosens up and is fine. It seems to me that this is just thick oil not allowing the synchros to work until it thins out a bit. Getting better as the miles go on and the weather gets warmer.....
Likely nothing to worry about if the car is still pretty new...

NO grinding. just hard to engage. took it out again to pay better attention to problem. sticky feeling when cold. 50/50 when warm. Double clutching seemed to make things easier. clutch seemed to be operatering fine. goes all the way down, comes all the way back smoothly.
I would have to agree with the post above this one. seems like it isnot matched up right.
haven't gone to dealer yet. almost afraid to. they never get things right.

Exact same problem here when going from 1st to 2nd gear at moderate to high engine speeds in my 2000 hardtop. I removed the Dextron III from the tranny this weekend and refilled with GM Synchromesh. Unfortunately the hard shifting is still a problem. I am starting to believe that the MN6 transmission is a piece of junk!
