[Z06] C5 Z06 vs C6 Z51 handling?

C5 Z06 vs C6 Z51 handling?
Basically, how does C5 Z06's handling and steering compare with C6 Z51 ('08 in particular)? Which one would provide an experience that's closer to Honda S2000 / Lotus Elise?
I'm considering an upgrade, heard a lot of good things about C6 Z51, but Z06 seems to be more of a sports car to me (true sports cars don't come with automatic!)

the S2000 and the Elise are SMALL cars. Quick and Nimble
the C5Z is big, and full of raw grunt. You step on the throttle and you get pushed backinto your seat. Handles very quickly in corners and 'twisties'. and pure staight line speed is fantasitc.
The C6Z51 is almost the same as the C5Z, just with more refinment.
The C5Z is quicker then the C6Z51.
I have ridden in several S2000 and one Elise. They were fun, the driver was handling the car very well, going up though the gears, takine great corners, I thought we were flying, then I looked at the speedo. The cars felt fast, but where not.
To get the same 'feeling' of speed and handling from an S2000 or Elsie to a C5Z, you have to add 40 mph.

I have been in S2000s and yeah they feel fast but look the speedo.I think the high revs makes it sound like your just flying!
Going from a WS6 to a Z06 was night and day There is no comparison in the handling of the Z06, you can totally tell the car is much light and just feels better. To me the car doesnt feel small but it dosent feel big either.
I have heard it said like this if you want a car that is very refined and can be very fast get the C6Z51. If you want a car almost as refined but is a pure sports car that can be made just nasty get a C5Z06.
I went with an 04 Z06 when I was in the price range for both!

I have to agree with him^^ I own a WS6 and will be owning my own Z06 soon, but have driven my buddies Z for weeks at a time and the difference is night/day I never wanted to give her back..I even have some suspension mods to my WS6 and it still uncomparable..driven a 350Z no comparison and hopefully when I get home and get a chance to drive my other buddies c6 i will be dissapointed with how his feels that way I know I got the better deal...lol

I attended the Spring Mountain advanced course in March. They had the C6-Z51s, C6Zs, and a few old C5Zs. After trying the new cars I gave up my turns in them and sought out the old C5Zs. IMO soft and sluggish handling does not equal "refinement".

I think that since 04 GM has gone off in a wrong direction. I have not really like any of the C6's that I have driven, including the C6 Z06.
Gm should have gone more towards beefing up the drivetrain and also kept the C5 look.
I cringe every time I see a fastback Z....uglier than sin
jmo
btw: I wouldn't trade my 03 Z for an 07Z

The Honda S2K and the Z06 are,of course very diff animals.
The S2k is a high revving machine and runs great AFTER 6500 rpms and has VERY LITTLE low-end grunt. It's lighter, shorter, narrower and smaller wheel base.
We all know what the Z06 is. I have an 02Z and an 03 S2K.Love them both!
At interstate speeds in top gear,my 96 Mitsu GST will smoke them both from 80 to 100.
Diff machines for diff needs!!
