You might be better of asking this in the C6 section as there prob is not too many of us C5 guys switched over to that brake/wheel set up....

When I bought my 500s the guy told me it was possible to upgrade the C5Z brakes by using C6 parts. Perhaps not the C6Z? Might have been just the regular C6 rotors and caliper brackets keeping the C5Z06 calipers. I should have paid better attention.

Give them a call. They're nice guys and they know their product.

they were talking about C6 Z51 rotors and brackets that use the stock C5/C6 calipers. unless you ordered your CCWs for a BBK they will not clear

Howdy!

There's two "upsizing" directions you take using C6 parts:

1) C6Z51 - this is larger front and rear rotors using the Z51 caliper brackets (and either your stock C5 cals or C6 cals). This gives you a 13.4" front and 13.1 rear.

2) C6Z06 - This removes the bracket/caliper setup and uses a bigger 6f/4r piston setup - it's a direct bolt on. This gives you a 14" front and 13.4 rear.

The C6Z51 will fit with most (all?) 18" front setups without any additional changes (I'm running myself on a CCW SP500 18" front, 19" rear setup).

The C6Z will require spacers - it's a mix of the larger diameter plus the huge caliper - the "spokes" will hit the top corner so you need to move the wheel out from the hub.

CCW makes a special fitment for this, and according to a guy who actually owned this setup, you still need a spacer for the rear only (though smaller than a non-BBK fitment) - this setup looks real close to an OEM fitment. This really reduces the "dish" that looks so great on aftermarket wheels.

With the non-BBK, "standard" CCW fitment, the spacers are pretty chunky AND you get (IMHO) a bad outward offset (picture 1/2" of tire sticking out from the fender wells).

Hope that helps!

I have read on here that the factory front C5 Z06 wheels will clear the C6 Z51 front rotors, but I have also read they will not clear them, did you try your factory rims with the C6 Z51 brakes? I cannot find a definitive answer or better yet a picture to confirm or bust the fitment.

First, is that your ride in your avatar? If so I *demand* more pics, wow, that looks off the hook!

You know I have not - and if you saw my garage, my OEM Z06 wheels are 2 ft from my car! I should have done it when everything was off the ground. At some point I will because I'm thinking of putting some R compounds on my stockers (and would hate to have to swap rotors to track it).

You probably read the same threads I have where some people say the Z06 OEM 17" wheel will clear, but the tolerance is so close it actually hits any crud on the inner wheel. I guess I'd also be concerned about even a tiny amount of flex under extreme loads. I recall reading that the non-OEM wheels (like a "thin spoke") were a no go.

If I get a wild hair this weekend I might give it a shot - I'm installing my HID's so I'm sort of in "car mode"

Here you go,

I have read all the threads, I am hoping they will fit, seems like a good way to go then if I go with a CCW 18" 19" setup down the road the rotors will not look tiny inside the wheels.
The Buick has 13" drilled and slotted rotors, they look small behind the 18" Billet Specialites wheels

This is my Z06, I feel bad changing the brakes where it only has 8k miles but I love the look of the drilled rotors,

Wow, dude that is a sweet ride! Thanks for the pics!

Yeah, when I went to the SP500's, the OEM rotors looked a little small. I had also been wanting to do some powdercoated calipers, so I actually went with C6 cals as well (so I was able to sent out the calipers/brackets without any downtime). Then I turned around and sold my stuff.

I originally had planned some 2-piece aftermarket Z51 spec rotors, but the seller through in his for $100, so I figured vs. $1200-1400 I'd run them up front! They're also from an '07 so they have the improved rust coating.

You can see how nice it fills the CCW's in:

The 505s will NOT clear the C6Z brakes on the C5Z unless specifically ordered from CCW with special offsets.

The widest 18" wheel you can get on the CCW SP500 is 18x11 using C6Z calipers. CCW Classics aren't even an option.

I ordered 18x12 CCW C10s w/ C14 spokes w/ special offsets to clear the C6Z06 brake calipers. These are the lightest and strongest wheels they offered when I bought mine.

There are C6Z06 repos that clear the calipers but have a tight fit. Not sure which company makes them exactly. I had the offsets needed to clear written down somewhere but I misplaced it.

Call John or Chip at CCW. Very helpful couple of guys!

P.S. You're going to be extremely limited on good tire options in 19". That's the only reason I switched from 19" SP500s to 18" C10s.

Just to throw in my .02 I just got some 18 - 19 CCW SP500's a couple weeks ago, and with them I also bought new Baer eradispeed plus 2 two piece slotted and drilled rotors, with the larger 14" in the rear, the rotors came in first so I put all that on the day before the new wheels and tires came in, everything cleared and fit fine.

When the CCW SP500's came in I went to put those on and noticed before rolling the car or wheels that the rear spkes on the CCW were going to hit a small portion of the rear caliper, the center section that has a little tab or sorts sticking out of it, it was only about maybe 1/8 inch or so. So I grinded off about 3/16-1/4" of just that tab in the center of the caliper and now the wheels clear the whole calipers by a good 1/8-3/16", and of course I then touched up the ground portion with red caliper paint.

Here are a few pictures, I know it doesn't have to do with BBK's but it does have to do with CCW, in case anyone else did the same or wanted to know.

Do you have any pictures of your car the C10s and C6 Z06 brakes?
