abs and traction control light come on 1997 c5

Since your problem is intermittent, before you start replacing any parts, try this. On the front left frame rail, just behind the headlight motor, but in front the washer fluid tank, you will see a couple of ground connections bolted to the frame. Clean all the connections and then retighten them. Grounds are critical on Corvettes and this could possibly alleviate your problem. I had the same problem on my '03 Z06 but after fixing the grounds the problem never reappeared.

Striper - good advice for a Z06, and you'd have no way to know this ... but the 1997 EBCM is located back by the rear axle, starting with 1998 Chevy moved it to the engine compartment.
