[Z06] Tread depth on new Z06 tires?

Tread depth on new Z06 tires?
Having just checked the tread depth on my 1900 mile Z06, I was really surprized to measure only 5/32-6/32 left. Do our tires come with less than most when new?? I haven't been too hard on mine, and when I looked at a 10,000 mile Z06 before I bought mine it looked still good, so I was just wondering, cause it might be cheaper to trade for an 02 Z06 than replace tires,, hee hee thats as good as a justification as I can some up with!

You can check http://www.goodyear.com but I recall that the F1SC tires are molded with 8/32" of tread, which is a bit less than the 10/32" that is common on high perf. tires.

pretty sure they come with 6 or 7/32nds i work at a tire retail store and when we measured the tread an some brand new ones off the truck for a freinds Z06 they were around 6 or 7/32nds i will measure them tommorrow to be sure..... i would wait for the 02 and then buy tires for it :cheers: :cheers:

I RECHECKED THE TIRES TODAY AND THEY HAVE 9/32NDS ON THEM BRAND NEW SORRY FOR SOME REASON I THOUGHT THEY HAD 6/32NDS :cheers:

Goodyear "Ultra Performance" pocket brochure (246300 10/01) lists the tread depth for the Z06 sizes as 8/32". Some other sizes of the F1SC are listed as 9/32".
I picked up the brochure at SEMA last month.

The tires that came on the Z06 and the extra set I just received from Tire Rack have 6/32 to 7/32 tread, really does vary from the different grooves on the tires. I'm sure curious how you got the 9/32 reading.

copied straight from tire rack info on Z06........ IN THE CENTER OF THE TIRE WITH A TREAD DEPTH INDICATOR I GOT THE READINGS OF 9/32NDS AND ON EITHER EDGE OF THE TIRE IT WILL READ 8/32NDS
Chevrolet Corvette ZO6
Chevrolet’s Corvette ZO6 model is equipped with Goodyear’s most recent Eagle F1 Supercar tires as original equipment. The Corvette ZO6 tires are heavily focused on dry road performance and feature an asymmetric tread design with huge tread blocks on the outside shoulders. The use of an asymmetric only tread design requires two tires for the Corvette ZO6 (front and rear). The Eagle F1 Supercar tires for the Chevrolet Corvette ZO6 feature just 8/32" of new tire tread depth (2/32" less than most other Max Performance tires) to assure quick responsiveness. Internally, twin steel belts (for strength and handling) are reinforced by spirally wound nylon (to enhance footprint pressure distribution and tire uniformity) and combined with a rayon cord carcass (for ride quality and high-speed durability). The Eagle F1 Supercar tires for the Corvette ZO6 do not incorporate Goodyear’s Extended Mobility Technology (EMT) and do not offer run-flat capabilities.
