Default Any tried Kuhmo ECSTA SPTs?

I had ordered a set of Kuhmo ECSTA MX tires for my '03 Z, but the 17s for the front are out of stock. As an alternative, I'm thinking about the ECSTA SPT. I checked the writeups on Tire Rack and a bunch of Vette owners raved about them.

Anyone here have experience with them?

Thanks,
Steve

I haven't tried those, but I have used Kuhmo Victoracers on my 84 911 and they were great!

Keep in mind the Victoracers are very soft and will not last very long on the street. But for HDPEs, they are the best bang for the buck.

My understanding is that the SPT isn't quite as grippy as the MX. But what sizes did you intend to use for a Z? I didn't think they offered a 295/35-18 tire....

I just bought my second set of Kumho Ecsta MXs and I believe they are great. Lots of grip, handles well, great tire design. Great value for the money. I think it would be worth looking around for in stock tires,(Discount Tire or Tire Rack).

Hi DD,

Are these sizes supposed to be for the Ecsta SPTs?

Compare w/ TireRack's website:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Sizes....odel=Ecsta+SPT

no 295/35-18 listed.

Nor is it shown on Kumho's website:
http://www.kumhousa.com/tires/passen...performance.do

My mistake. Those were for the MXs. I'm probably going to try the MXs after my Michelin's wear out.

Here are the specs for the SPTs. You're right, no 35.

I just got my first set of M X`s & really like them so far! I`m wondering , what pressure do you run? I`ve got them at 30# now & it looks like the outside 1" of tread is not on the ground Wondering should they run lower pressure than the Goodyears? Thanks. Dennis. Its a `03 Z06

Thanks guys. I was going round in circles, can't find the sizes in the Kuhmos. So I gave up and ordered a set of GY F1 GS-D3s, 275/40-17 fronts, 295/35-18 rears. They are costing me a few bucks more (well, a couple of hundred few bucks more), but at least I'll have the sizes and performance I want.

Again, thanks for the input.

MX is available in the OEM rear size, but the closest sizes for the fronts are either 10mm narrower or 10mm wider (255 or 275). I've been wondering the same thing about these, after 7 years of experience with Kumho (street and R-comp....awesome tires). Will the 275 fit? Is the 255 wide enough?

I'd love to hear from anyone who's used them specifically on a C5 Z06.

Use the 275/40-17 for your front Z06 wheel. It will fit, and perform, splendidly.

I wanted to go with the MX, but the rears (295/35-18) are not available. I checked a bunch of places, and they are out of stock, and Kumho can't say when they will be available. I needed tires immediately, so couldn't wait around a few weeks for them to become available. Same thing happened last spring with the V710s and they were not available virtually all season. I love the Kumho slicks and really wanted to try the MX, but time is of the essence right now. Maybe next set of tires.

275s for the fronts will fit and they are huge. On C5 Z06s they are extremely quiet, considering the minimal sound deadening insulation they have. Great tire! If you are running non run-flats, you can go as wide as available in MXs.

Steve, sorry to hijack your thread, but since you'd had your questions answered anyway...

Thanks to everyone else for the input! I was a little concerned that the 275s might have rubbing issues, but since I've won contingency money from Kumho (on another car), I tend to lean their direction. That, of course, is in addition to the fact that I've had great grip, wear, and experience with their tires since 2002.

Victoracers, V700, Ecsta Supra, V710, and ASX are all I've had so far, so it's about time I try MX.
