[Z06] DOT 5 Brake Fluid

DOT 5 Brake Fluid
The original DOT 3 blake fluid quickly turned black after a few track days. I used DOT 4 fluid for a while and it lasted longer but also turned black on hot days when the car was used by 2 drivers in different classes. I have used DOT 5 fluid for the past 18 months and numerous track days and had no discoloring problems. At the last track day another Corvette owner told me DOT 5 can cause problems with the caliper seals. Does anyone have any information about this?

He is correct, synthetic brake fluid does not work and worse than that you probably damaged your ABS control block. It pays to read the owners manual before going off and just pouring the wrong kind of fluids.
I would flush the entire brake system and pray that you didn't wreck anything. That ABS piece if you could get it list over $3K.

You mean DOT 5.1 ( five point one) dont you ?
DOT 5 is synthetic based and not for ABS use as it will causes seals to change and leak. too much heat will almost freeze the brake peddle and no brakes
What brand are you using?
I use Castrol SRF, which is a DOT 5.1 for track use. and DOT 4 for the pick up and wifes vette

The problem with dot 5 ad abs is that dot 5 will foam up when the abs kicks on. You may be ok if you havent kicked on abs. You should flush that quickly and go with the dot 5.1 or just deal with the dot 4
