Default 01 Z Collapse Radiator Hose

What would cause my upper radiator hose to collapse? Fresh coolant, hoses are good, no apparent fluid loss. car was running hot at 230 when running thru traffic.

I had the same problem. My fluid level in the overflow was a little low. topped it off to the max. level line and the problem went away. Check it when cold.

Check the weep hole on the bottom of your water pump. use your finger on the bottom of the pump (when cold) to feel for coolant. If it is leaking, you should the clean spot on the crossmember, where the hot water has cleaned off the dirt and oil.

Blow thru your radiator and ac condenser with some compressed air, C5's are bad about getting stopped up with sand in the cooling fins. Probably low air flow, causing you to run hot, which in turn, causes the radiator to burp into the overflow, then when it cools it can't suck in back out of the overflow tank.

good luck

I just had the same thing happen on my 01. The Radiator Cap will cause this, replaced mine evrything is fine. Now I have a spare set of hoses I bought thinking this was the problem. I tried the cap before changing hoses.

so did the cap fix your problem, 54greg? i just noticed by upper radiator hose was collapsed this morning when i removed the EBCM... i swear, when it rains, it pours! at least this is a minor issue... Sure will be glad when I can just get in the car and drive it instead of worrying about whats gonna break next!
