[Z06] Don't get WeatherTech mats...

Don't get WeatherTech mats...
The glossy high-heel ads in the magazines about the custom made
all-weather mats for your car are serious exaggeration. It won't
ruin your life or anything, but they do not actually make all mats to
precisely fit a given car, or even connect with the mat-retention hooks
for a given car!
I ordered a set for my C5, and got two mats, four mat retention hooks,
and an instruction sheet telling me what to do to my BMW. The
passenger-side mat has two blind holes you are supposed to punch out
to hook into the floor hooks. The C5 has only one hook on the passenger
side, in the middle.
I'm glad I started on that side rather than the drivers side, because I
might have started to try to puncture the blind holes through before I
called them. The assistant said that I got 'the right kit' for my car, and
then said that they send 'generic' mats for some cars, that should fit in
those cases (if I ignore the hook issue I guess), and that if I am not
happy, they will arrange a return shipment and refund *if* I have not
made any punctures to the mats. If I had tried to follow the instructions
I would have been totally out of luck.

I have them in my Impala and they fit like a glove. Of course, I bought the heavy duty winter ones that go up the sides. Not sure which ones you're talking about. But the best thing about them is they're made in the USA. I think they're well worth the money.

Got a set of these for wife's DD a few years ago. Fit great, work great, but the smell was horrific! Had to leave 'em on the patio table for a week and 5 years later I can still get a faint whiff when I take them out to wash.

I have them for the front and trunk in my 08 trailblazer and they fit and look great. I wouldnt really want them for my C5z, although I dont drive it in bad weather anyway.

Joe D. sounds like you bought the floor MATS which are, fits more than one vehicle, the floor LINERS are custom fit to each vehicle, and cost more. thats the ones everybody above has! in colors also.

Hmmm, Let me check that out.... thanks.
I do see the fancier digital fit liner, which would be perfect,
if a perfect fit. Darn, they don't make them for a C5 Vette.
So if anyone thought I was besmirching the liners, you can
stand down, I was only talking about the mats...
regards,
Joe

yea, got to have the ones molded specifically for the car
they are great, I have them in three DD including the trunk mat in one car
and they are really really made in the USA
and MacNeil sponsors my old buddy Randy Pobst in a lot of endurance races (along with MacNeil's son whom Randy mentors)

ZOMG... I went to order WeatherTechs for my C5. They don't make them, yet. If everyone on the Corvette Forum would go to
http://www.weathertech.com/service/p...-request-form/
and request that they make them for our beloved C5's I bet we could get them to add our cars to the product line.
Also whoever lives in Chicago can volunteer to have their car scanned and once they start shipping C5 Laser Measured DigitalFit FloorLiners that person will get a free set and the rest of us will be able to order a set.
Guessing Z06 and base C5's would use the same FloorLiner.

Now that google has cached the title of this thread and will now increase it's height in google returns, when "weathertech mats" are searched...I'm sure weathertech thanks you for your negative publicity based upon a misinformed position.
We can all appreciate the mistake, and it's ok, but I don't think people realize the power of forums, and how google spiders cache information to match searchers keywords.
Point is, before you bash a company, especially in the title specifically, be sure your ducks are in order.

I hate when 5 year old threads are drug out again when they have nothing new to offer.
