C5 Z06: LS6 or LS7 Clutch?
I've got to do a clutch replacement and some vendors have super deals on factory LS6 or LS7 clutches. What's the pros and cons of switching to the LS7 clutch in my '03 Z06? The original clutch lasted 100k miles and if the slave hadn't leaked I wouldn't be changing it yet, it was still holding fine but the pressure plate and flywheel have blue marks on them.

PROS: Greater torque capacity, Stock-like pedal effort
CONS: Greater rotational mass robs you of throttle response and power to the wheels. This can be counteracted by going with a lightweight (non-stock) flywheel, which will cost extra and will need to be rotationally balanced with the clutch.
What mods do you currently have? Do you have any plans for future mods? I'd probably consider Monster's Stage 1 or Stage 2 package.

Take a look at what you want to do in the future and if you are going to stay stock I'd keep the LS6 clutch or go with LS7 and go with a lw flywheel.
If going away from stock what are your power goals and pick a clutch based on that goal. Personally I went with a Diamond stg 2 with lw flywheel when I was at full bolt ons since I knew I'd be changing the cam and gears in the not to distant future. Which is only a couple of weeks away now.

Thanks for the reponses. At this point I've done most of the bolt-on mods you can do along with a good professional tune. The possiblity of going further is most likely done. With my driving habits and a little racing sometimes my original clutch lasted 100k miles. I've decided to just do a replacement stock Z06 clutch. It's held up all this time and is still in good condition. It's only apart because of the leaking slave.
