Default 2002 Chevy Corvette Z06 Long-Term Road Test

Not sure if this is a re-post, but I found it a pretty good read. Click on the various embedded links in the article for lots of info on what they experienced with this Z06 while they had it. Sounded like it kind of had a hard life with these guys.

They can't make their mind up about the seats...

We almost even overlooked the under-supportive seats.

...then they say:

The side bolsters were restrictive when climbing in and out of the car.

Which is it - do the seats have too little or too much support? Of course, we all know the answer to that question. This is the first time I've heard someone complain about the stock side bolsters being restrictive.

The seats are crap regardless, lol! But the rest of the car makes up for them, IMO.

This article was a driving force for me to buy a C5Z, it very well represents how the car is the best bang for the $$$ out there and reasonable to own.

Unless you dive into mod hell that is...

From a GM High Performance article. These guys test drove an 04 Z06 for a week.

I love this line... it sold me on the Z06...

"A week spent dealing with this puppy's monumental g-forces has curdled our short-term memory like a double-barrel bong hit. This is the first new GM vehicle I'm proud to say that I could easily kill myself in--and that, my friends, is a good thing."

Here's a companion article that has the same silver 2002 Z06 in it. Interesting how it compared to the newer Vettes.

Great article. I was surprised a bad MAF wouldnt show up on the DIC? I would think that would throw an error if it was misfiring that bad.

Good reads...I am overall impressed that even after 10 years, my car still holds it's own.

Both articles are good reads. They did wind up buying new tires for the 02Z during their long term test though, however it doesn't say whether they put it back on the track. The good part for them, is they were able to get their $20k purchase price back when they sold it.

After reading the first article, I read some of the comments. I guess if you spend the money on a new BMW, you then find out you could have had an older Z06 and still had change in your pocket, you have to bash the vette to make yourself feel better about your Bavarian purchase.
