Default Big Brake Setup C6 Z06 for C5 Z06

Hey Guys,

I want to do the C6 Z06 Big Brake Modification for my 2002 C5 Z06. I have still the stock wheels on my vette with the 17 inch front wheels.
I understood, that these need to get swopped against 18 inch wheels and that therefore the 18 inch wheels from the back can be used. This is also what I will do. 1st Question, which tire dimension is here the best, the car mostlikely won´t see the track.

For the rear end I would like to go with the same kind style rims in chrome but in 19 inch as I would like to keep the staggered style. Questions here, which width to the rims need to have, what tire dimension is the biggest that will fit exactly and finish straight with the fender?

Also, I was reading to change the Aluminum piston vs DRM stainless steel piston. Anybody has this mod and can report if it makes a noticable difference?

I hope I was able to explain everything correct since I´m German and live in the states, if not, just ask
Thanks Rouven.

I run rear Z06 wheels on the front of my car.
I am running a 265/35/18 tire with Zero issues. Some guys also run a 275/35/18 without issue. I think they stick out a bit too much..

Just curious but are you doing this just for looks or do you plan on tracking?

Anyone have pics to show how much the stock rear C5Z 18in rims stick out on the front with a 265 tire? I've searched for pics, but can't find a good one. I have to imagine they stick out a little past the fender, but would like to see exactly how much...thanks...

@ Jeremy....yes mostlikely only for looks...and it´s always good to have more braking power I guess

But I really do love the look!

Gotcha. If you were going to track at all I would say look for a different BBK over the C6 Z06 as an upgrade. If it's just for looks go for it.

As for the pics try searching for what you are looking for in google over the forums search. I always type everything there and typically find threads in the Corvette forum much easier through that.

What BBK would you recommend for track purposes? Just any aftermarket BBK company - brembo, stoptech, apracing, etc?

I run Stoptech for my street 04 Z06 which gets a couple of track days per year. However, you can get by very well with ONLY race pads and fluid (and cooling) for track days. T1 guys have done it successfully for years.

I would get those over C6 Z for track use, yes.
