Default How do you guys protect paint behind tires?

Hey all,

I've seen lots of Vettes, especially those with wider than stock wheels and tires or those tracked and autocrossed, where the paint on the trailing edge of the wheel well openings is just blasted away from rock chips and road debris, etc. I've got a car I'd like to track and autocross and it's really nice in that regard, and I'd like to do what I can to preserve that. Painters tape is an option when at events, but it looks like crap IMO. Clear bra kits don't protect that part, as far as I have seen.

What do you guys use? Any products or tricks that will help preserve the rocker paint from such abuse?

Thanks for any advice!

Brian

Clear Bra. Mine has the Nose, Mirrors, behind each wheel, lower sills outside and inside the car and around the brake duct, and the door handle area where nails could scratch. Gets dirty quick and cleans up super easy...

Hmmmmm, ok, for most cars it doesn't include anything behind the wheels as far as I know. I'll take a look, thanks!

If you're just tracking it ever so often, just tape it up on the places you think will get nicked up. It may not look the best, but you can take it off and drive home at the end of the day.

I have clear bra kits that cover those areas so they are out there. You can cover anything and up to the entire car... so its easily doable.

Anyone who knows Vette's knows that besides the obvious Nose and Mirrors, that the area behind the wheels and the lower sills take a beating. Seen lots of pics of peeps lower sills with tons of pits all along them. It takes a big projectile to hurt the clear bra.
