Default Finally got my Vette and now it won't start

Hey all, Well I finally got one of my dream rides, an 01 Z06.....

I've had it 5 days now, and until this morning I loved it, wow what a car....I'll post some pics after I get it running....It's Millennium Yellow (because that's the fastest color).... although I do question the eyesight of the original buyer who ordered it with the torch red interior upgrade)

Anyways, Driven it to and from work for the last 5 days and it ran fine... Took it out last night and sort of ran her.... everything looked good

get up this morning, get in and it won;t start..... so here is what I have/know

the security light flashes and all the gauges sweep.... but when I key it over to start it, nothing.... no sounds no nothing.....

Battery seems fine (tried to start it with lights on and they don;t dim)

Tried 2 different keys

played with the clutch pedal while trying to start it, I could hear a relay on the passenger side clicking.....

I am so frustrated, It took everything I had to talk the wife into letting me get this and every dime we had saved... AND I still need tires for it....

I read up on pulling codes and here is what I got...

TCS 4 codes
U1300 H
C1221 H
C1222 H
C1248

BCM no codes

SDM 1 code
U1300 H

IPC no code

AO-LDCM 5 codes
B2284 H
U1255 H
U1065 H
U1016 H
U1096 H

A1-RDCM 6 Codes
B2285 H
B2265 H
U1255 H
U1064 H
U1016 H
U1096 H

No other codes in the other modules

I'm afraid to reset all the codes, I read somewhere that isn;t a good idea....

ANY help GREATLY appreciated......

Here we go.....

Not faced that with my '04...but I would take a battery tester to the battery (could be a bad cell or 2) , check all Fuses, check the grounds in that order.

starter solenoid is a common culprit. if you jack the car up and smack the starter with a deadblow hammer and the car starts you have found your problem.

you can also get a buddy to turn the key while you do voltage tests at the starter.

i'm starting to think the ls1/6 starter has a 10 year 100k service life

quite a few seem to fail at those numbers

There's nothing wrong with clearing codes.

Also, any code that ends with a 'H' is a History code, i.e. it was once an issue but no longer is.

Look at the clutch switch. Common area of failure and causes a similar problem.

I did the trick about pumping the clutch and listening for the relay... it clicked....

As for the solenoid, I'll give that a shot.... I'm not even sure where the jack point on this beast is....it's so low....

I was going to try the ignition contact rebuild here http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...ch-repair.html

But getting the radio panel off is giving me fits..... I'm just frustrated....

It got the warning from here.... Post 14 and it worried me about resetting them.... maybe I misread it....

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...s-problem.html

NOTE!! Only reset the codes IF you want to - it is NOT necessary to do this. Clearing a code does not repair a problem. You are simply erasing the evidence of it in the module's memory. If you clear the code/s, and extinguish the Check Engine Light, your emissions status ready will NOT allow you to pass an emissions test until you have completed the required driving cycles. There are a few body module DTC’s that if set will prevent the module from operating properly. Once the DTC is cleared, the module will return to full function. This is not true for power train DTCs.

Is the steering column staying locked? Is the security light going off or does it stay flashing? Google the column lock bypass if so cause that may be your issue.

Got her running....

it turned out to be the ignition relay in the fuse box.... a couple gentle taps and she started right up.....

FINALLY.....

Thanks all....

Thanks..... now to get her a little lower and find the missing part of the lower plastic airdam (I seem to only have the two outer pieces but not the center part)

Im missing the right one because some inconsiderate *** left a gas can in the middle of the interstate and I had no choice but to hit it. Cracked my bumper too, I just need to get that fixed.

There is a vendor on here that sells those pieces, look in the C5 classifieds I wish I could remember

It was an "ignition relay" located in the fuse box on the right fender

I'd have to go look (can;t right now) but I believe it is relay #42 or 43

here is the part (I have no connection to either company)

So you bought the car used and question the owner for picking a red interior? Do you question yourself?

Glad you got it fixed.

I love red interior but would question the eyesight of the owner who picked a yellow exterior.
