2013 Camaro SS VS 1999 Vert
Ok I have been out of the country for the last few months and when I returend my wife had purchased a brand new Chevy Camaro SS. She did really good and got every available option, every available upgrade everything. (I have tought her well)
WE recently took a 1200 mile round trip drive and I have to tell you tha Camaro is ****!!
It has power yes but it doesnt translate it to the road very well at all. The enginge has a ton of compresion but whatever you do don't take your foot straight off the throttle from WFO, feels like you are slamming on the brakes!!
Comfort? Ok the seats aren't that bad but the heaters don't get very warm, yes the Vette has after market heaters so maybe I am biased.
Visibility?? NONE every lane change you make is simply a guess if you haven't been paying very close atention on the highway.
Performance? You turn off the baby sitters and you can have a lot of fun with the understeer but it does not compare to my slightly modified 1999 car.
Backseat? it is great for a back pack but there is no way in hell a person is getting in there but lets face it i understand nobody was ever meant to get in there!
So as much as I get the new car bug form time to time I know now the Camaro is not the new car for me.......even though it look like the new stingray from the back!! HAHAHA

Honestly, I never understood why people on here always try to compare the Corvette and the Camaro, they're two completely different types of cars. It would be like comparing a Viper with a Charger, or a 370z with an Altima.
The whole "they could have bought a C5 for less than a new Camaro" argument makes people sound smug. Some people need to realize that not everyone wants a Corvette...

I did not know that.
Around here it appears differently.

It took one test drive in a Camaro to make me not want one - blind spots were just horrendous. But Chevy has sold a ton of them.

Is it me? But I've been getting sick and tired of all these bloated throwbacks. All I see are huge barges dressed like old models, and weigh a couple of TONS!
Personally They all look the same to me now....Challenger, Mustang, or Camaro, blah, blah, blah. They even come with the same horrible vision problems.

No, I have good vision. I like the look of the car as do many others. Have you driven Camaro SS? The power plant may be robust but it pushes the big lug like a Buick LeSabre at best. I don't care how good the powerplant might be if it can't push the car enough.

I can relate as the 60 -100 acceleration is WAY off from what we are used too!

I test drove a new Camaro SS before I bought my 2002 Coupe M6 and I was not impressed with it at all. Allthough I like the styling the performance and everything else about the car I did not like.

I like the Camaro myself. Never drove one though. I also like the Challenger. Not sure I would trade my vette for one but if I had to for some reason I think I could be happy.
Actually when I retire I was leaning toward a C6 or a Camaro as a DD.

........BUT...
C5s are a dime a dozen right now, so my argument still stands that if someone wanted a Corvette instead of a Camaro [read: any car that isn't a Corvette], they would have gotten a Corvette.
happy flag day everyone

I've also noticed a lot of the C5 guys in our area dont wave as much ...I usually get the wave from the older C6 guys and almost always from the C1-C3 guys (I haven't seen a C4 in the area in forever).
