Default Headlights dimming

Took my recently-purchased '03 Z on its first extended trip. Noticed that when driving at night with the headlights on, when I apply the brakes the headlights dim slightly. They don't stay dimmed during the entire breaking time, just for a memento when brakes are first applied. No other lights lights dim (gauges, etc). Any idea what's going on?

I researched this 10+ years ago when I bought my 2002 Z06 new. It's normal, just the way the electrical system works.

If there is a load put on the electrical system (ie, brake lights on, power windows in use, air injection pump kicks in, etc), the voltage regulator doesn't seem to be able to instantaneously keep up with the electrical system load. Therefore, you see the headlights dim for a split second.

Wonder if a Grounding kit or a upgraded cables would offer any help for that..

I wonder if that happends with a HID kit?

Maybe this "BIG 3 Kit" is what you should look at..

Your battery may be on the weak side of life. Also I have had stock candles, euro double candles, and now have a set of bi-xenon and none of them ever dimmed with a good (right amp hour) battery.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I will start with the battery check and go from there

My '01 has done it since it was new and even with brand new batteries so I just ignore it.

My 02 does it even with brand new battery. Glad to know I'm not the only one.

I have OEM headlights with Silverstar bulbs. Very recent battery. Mine will occasionally "flicker" a bit dim while driving at highway speeds. Happens every few minutes or so. Always has done that.
