Default Will '02 h pipe bolt to '04 manifold ?

Hello. The catalytic converters are bad on my 2004 Z06 and I need to get them replaced. I have no interest at this point in an after market solution and have stumbled across and '02 H pipe. Does anyone have experience swapping an '02 Z06 non-precat H pipe on to an '04 Z06 that uses pre-cats ? If I remove my pre-cats will it bolt up to my manifold without modification ? Would I also need to swap manifolds as well ? I assume I could use the '04 02 sensors if everything else worked out. Thanks for any insight.

It'll bolt right on. However....your 04Z should not have pre-cats. Only the 01Z had pre-cats.

Agree with posted statement above.. All Z06 Hpipes are interchangeable with other Z06's... Not so between base and Z.

my 2004 Z06 does not have pre-cats. If yours does maybe its a Cali emissions car or something or it had been swapped out (headers installed then put back to stock or something) at some point in its life.

After reading what you guys said I rolled under my car. You are right of course. The last time I was under there I'll swear I saw a couple of enlarged areas on each pipe just under the manifolds. What I actually saw was just a slight enlargement to allow the pipes to fit together. Thanks for the information and making me look !!

01 's have pre cats or some call them "pup cats"...02-04 had no pre cats..that was where some of the hp gain is 385 vs 405..i had an 01 Z and changed it out to the 02/04 no pup cats, and with a tune..did make a dif over stock hp in my 01..here is a pic of my 01z, owned it about 10 yrs ago..

and after 3 other Z's, here is my latest c5 z

I wonder if I can get an exhaust shop to cut off my pup cats on my '01 and weld me in some straight pipes? :-)

Just look for a used 02-04 exhaust ,head pipes, plenty of guys sell after they put on headers...
They will just fit right up...actually less hassle than wielding ....I did it, and I also was changing plugs and doing a tune..
I would'nt do the pup cat delete, unless your doing a few other things...

The problem is that the stock mid pipe is so freaking long that you can't afford to pay shipping on it. And finding one locally is about impossible.
