[Z06] Owners 18-30...WOULD YOU BE ALL OVER A C7 IF YOU COULD SWING IT?
#21
I'm 30 and I would take a new loaded c7 in an equal trade for my c5z. The new stingray looks like a blast. Great interior, good engine and I even like the looks.
Just isn't practical to spend 65k on a sports car right now with young kids.

The performance stats for starters. Way faster in every category. But truth be told. The girls Love Ferraris! That's what I'm torn with right now. The vette will out preform it, but there is nothing quite like the sound of a Ferrari. And for a guy with a size 14 shoe, the F1 wet clutch paddle shift trans would make it easier on me on track days. The rev match 7 spd is great. I've given a C7 Z51 a good test drive and it works great. Wish My C5 Z could have that. Then I'd keep it. I actually love its body the best. It is beautiful in its FRC configuration. Gorgeous in its simple lines. The C7 goes over the top and having the rear facia painted black is a drawback on all but the color black. IMHO.
The 360 body is beautiful as well. They have a very harsh ride though. The magnetic ride option makes the z51 a great car. But we are comparing new vs used here. Ferraris only break in ten thousand dollar pieces.
Something to consider.
See, it's a tough choice.
Ferrari puts you in a different light publicly, but you will always know the vette can kick your ***!

...I have been contemplating this myself lately.
I got my c5z when I was 21 (23 now). I think the C7 is an incredible 'vette. I've read every magazine, web article, and watched all the youtube videos I can find.
I've only seen about 10 in person, and I think they look much better in person than pictures.
It's a great car no doubt.
With that being said, I've come to the conclusion that I could spend $15k in mods on my Z to make it out-run, out-handle, and out-brake, the C7 or most any other stock car. And I can improve the interior. I like my Z and think it's a pretty car that's fast. I'd rather spend some money "perfecting" it.
On the other hand, I have a '78 Corvette I'm restoring & building into a pro-touring machine, which is one of my dream cars and it's my true passion.
Summary- C7 is a great car, but I'm happy with what I have now. And I can build both up the way I want and be even happier...all for the price of one C7

No, its fugly. I wanted a c5z because it was the car I dreamed of in high school. Also, its just so raw, feels like a race car. The new c7 probably rides like a lexus in comparison.

29 years old. Own a 01z. Can afford both. Driven c7 about ten times and provides same level of enjoyment in my book. There is something about the c5z I enjoy more but couldn't even begin to describe it. It's what a corvette is to me personally.
I'd get a vert F355 or viper GTS long before I added a c7.

Liar. If you turn down a free one that's just stupid.
And yes I would trade my C5 z instantly for a c7. It is a better car all around in my eyes. Does it weigh more yes but it also goes around a track MUCH faster stock to stock. And the interior is worth it almost by itself. Age 30

I can't say yet I would go for a C7. I think a ZR1 is more what I want, which is what I am currently looking at in the next year or so……possibly. My main problem is I just dropped almost half a million on a house this year, which takes most of my fun money for a new car once the C5Z is paid off next month.
And i just turned 30 earlier this year as well.

I just looked up what a factory five GTM is. It must be very light. Like a Nobel. And with LS power it will be scary fast. But I can't fit into a Nobel. I'm 6-3 250lbs and 14 shoe. Even 911 footwell is too small for me. Ferrari 360 works but my C5 Z is better fit for me.

I see what you did there I suppose I should clarify, I wouldn't pass up a C6Z for one, wouldn't dream of choosing one over a ZR1, and because 911's tug on my little heart strings, I wouldn't pass a nice 997 GT3 for a C7.
