I'd trade my C5Z in a heartbeat.

I guess you can buy a 2007 GT-3 with less than 50,000 miles on the clock for around 70k
But the C7 z51 is still quicker around VIR or Mazda Leguna Seca!
So how would feel having to shy away from a little friendly testosterone test when you came upon one on the interstate or at a stoplight?
My bone stock C5Z drove around one out of turn 16 at Sebring and never looked back down the straight and into and out of 17 back to the start finish line. And this particular gt3 had the RS wing and very loud exhaust.
I don't think he drove it to the track either.
Again, to women, cars like Porsches and Ferraris somehow will always draw their attention first. And it's a status symbol thing. But Americas sports car is hard to beat. The C7 is a wonderful car. The convertible is a beautiful thing to look at and drive. That's the one that does it for me.

I could if my future wifey would allow it, but I also think a C6z would be my first choice.

I would take the GT3, or even a base Carrera, over almost any Corvette regardless of what happens at a stoplight

Why don't you have one?

A 2002 base Carrera is about the same price as your 2002 Z06.

I really want an '09+ model to completely avoid the IMS/RMS issues. 06+ is less of a gamble than the 996 and first year 997 cars, but still a risk. I don't think I could do any 996 car unless it was a GT3 or Turbo as they don't have the engine problems of the others.

Glorified 1968 Beetles!
Owned a 996. Junk. Over priced and under powered. A C4 LT4 will kick its *** for a whole lot less money.
C5 Zs are carara killers. And a 08 turbo porsche is the same price as a new 15 Zo6. 80k. And another turbo killer!!! so to each their own. But never underestimate the vette. Pound for pound it can't be beat and at half the price, who needs them?

I am glad you're happy with your car but this is one of the most immature posts I've ever read on here.

No, I seriously thought about it. Went, looked, and even started shopping for one and then I fired up my C5Z. For just a bit more coin I would/am considering a new gen viper.

When I was 25, I got a c5z with an ls7 and also have a c6z with a bigger/better ls7

Anyone who says they would take the c5 over any of the newer ones is kinda foolish.

The c5 cars kinda suck.

They are dated and very unrefined, as well as uncomfortable.

It's very is to say you would pick it over anythjng else when it's the only one you have.

But if you had them both, or all 3, you sure as hell wouldn't be saying the same thing.

I would trade the c5 for a c7 in a heartbeat even if it was slower. But I think I would buy a newer truck before I added a 3rd Vette to my collection.

Anyone who would bash a c5 on a c5 forum is kind of foolish. Many of us have the means to buy whatever we would like, and we like our c5's. There isn't a single way that I can think of that my c5 sucks. Let's see who's engine is still working at 300k miles, my ls6, or your ls7. If I'm honest I've never seen an ls7 make it to 100k miles.

Haven't driven one, so it's hard to say. I can swing it, but chose not to spend that much on a car this time around.

I'm sure there are lots of things you haven't seen.

my ls7 118k miles. It got tore apart for a motor build. 434 lsx block with aftermarket heads and a sheet metal intake.

if you want to brag about how long something lasts maybe you would be better off in a 20 year old diesel truck or Toyota?

Like I said most of the guys that think their c5 is the bees knees hasn't had both.

My c6z with more miles has had less issues.

I haven't had window motor issues, or abs, issues, my seat tracks aren't sloppy and don't feel like they belong on a child's powerwheels.

the c5 was nice 10 years ago when compared to a similar year mustang maybe.

But the c6 was a far better car. And the c7 greater by even a larger amount.

The c5 reminds me more of a high powered go cart or something raw and light such as that.

Not a refined and we'll rounded sports car.

And even using those words I'm not sure the c6 fits.

So you're saying the c5z is like a high powered go kart, and also that it's crap. I guess I didn't realize there were people who didn't like go karts. You should probably sell your c5 then, as it's crap and not a c6.

I doubt it would sell, market is flooded with them. Locally there are some for as low as 12k or so.

Knowing what I know now, I wouldn't have bought it. But it's a cool little thing to drive around I when my c6z is down for mods or maintenance.

Definitely feels like a pos though after owning both the c5z and this beat up ragged out c6, With 118k miles.

Are you trying to tell us the ls7 is more reliable than the ls6?

I've owned both a C5Z and a C6 Z51, and driven a couple C6 Z06's.

C6 was an upgrade for me in several departments (many of which can be solved through mods): slightly better seats (but still crap), better interior, more refined, better performing headlights, slightly less clunky transmission. It was a more comfortable daily driver.

That said, it was a downgrade in fun factor.

The interior wasn't THAT much better though. At the end of the day, my Cayman S interior was in another league of quality compared to these cars. I don't buy a Corvette for interior refinement and quality, I buy it for accessible and inexpensive performance and fun.

I like that my C5Z is like a street disguised track beast. It's raw and really fun. The C6's felt more numb, like the priority was an older demographic of cruisers.

Anyone calling a C5Z a "POS" compared to a C6Z isn't an enthusiast worth listening to.
