I don't fit in an 03' z06!
I usually post onthe c2 thread...
Has anyone swapped their seat for somthing with a lower profile? I'm 6'3 1/2" and my head pushed uncomfortably on the roof liner; and yes the seat is all the way down and back.
I went to look at a prospective purchase on a low mileage, torch red, decently cared for z and was not happy I could't get compy behind the wheel.
Guess I'll just stick to my 63 vert.
Freddie
Found this old thread but the links are broken. Any update?

I'm pretty sure the seat was down all the way and back as I tried to adjust it a few times. Then I had the owner position it all the way down and still no luck. This morning I took an informal measure of my torso. I'm 31 1/2 long (yes, long ) from my pelvic point side to the top of my head and about 35 inches long from the approximate centered hip socket joint. I wear a dress shirt with a 37 or 38 sleeve length and ususally get them from big and tall or order them.
Anyone replace their seat with an aftermarket to gain room?
This really sucks as I liked the car.

At that height you will have to move the seat forward a bit and then tip it back. If you sit with the seat close to straight up you will hit the headliner where it dips down. The 02 earlier headliner was suposedly different and gives like an inch more space as well.

Good point! I suppose I could move it forward an inch or so and tilt it back and see. Probably still very tight but worth a shot.

The switch to an '02 headliner will give you about half an inch. I'm 6-2, with short legs, and I fit pretty well. Wouldn't want to drive with a helmet, though.

6'3" here, a lot of it in my torso
Did not fit comfortably
Changed the stock seats to Corbeau Evolution X, about 1.5" more room, problem solved.
The stock seats suck anyway

Freddie,
As others have alluded to, the headliner was switched in '03 - more bulbous and intruded more along the back edge, resulting in less available headroom for us big guys. An '02 will give you more room.

The 2001 is the one with the thinner head liner giving you more head room, the 2002 - 2004 are the same thickness.

I think you just need to recline the seat back more. I am 6ft, and in my other vehicles I sat in a more upright position. In that fashion, I felt I could hardly see under the sun visors. I have gotten used to it being pretty laid back and now my other vehicles feel a little strange.

Are you guy's in 03's? Maybe there were changes for other years?

I am gonna have to come right out and ask...are you a fat 6'3", or a sub 240 6'3"? My friend is shorter than me (prob 6'1"), but weighs 295 and you'd think he was Andre the Giant in my car. While, I am 6'2" and fit easily with helmet room.
Point is...a guy with a big fat *** is going to sit higher than someone who isn't...this isn't a height issue...this is a fat *** issue.

Messed around with my seat a little today and looks like it depends a lot on how you sit. I like to sit upright, which is apparently only possible if you're under 6 feet tall. If I lean it back like a la-z-boy then I have all the headroom in the world.
I have my seat bottom flat and all the way down, with the seat back just about straight up and down. My seat bottom foam is also totally worn out so I'm as low as I can go

I'm 6'3". We used to have an '01 Z and I fit in it fine. Got an '03 to replace it and I kept hitting my head. Ended up taking the liner from the '01 and put it in the '03 and all is well. The '02-04 have a plastic honeycomb section in the rear for some reason that limits headroom.
