Removing "pup" cats from 2001 Z06 exhaust?
Has anyone every paid a shop to remove these unnecessary pair of cats only on the 2001 model for CA emission purposes? I was wondering if I take to a shop if they can cut them off and weld in straight pipes. A thief cut my wife's third cat off of her Mercury Mariner two years ago and a shop did that for me. If so I may go ahead and buy the Magnaflow tru X-pipe and have the stock pipe cut and welded to it too. This should help with about an extra 10 horses over all and improve the sound too.

The sound gain is minimal honestly. I did it before I went to headers and the extra volume and power wasn't very noticeable. It crackled a bit more on decel which I liked.

I really like the way the Magnaflow x-pipe sounded on my Mustang GT and Mustang Cobra. It optimizes flow as there is no restriction to the air flow, whereas most company's x-pipes are simply two pipes with the sides cut out and then welded together. Air flow doesn't cross over very much as the exhaust follows the path of least resistence.

Did you change the H-pipe out or only cut the pup cats off?
