were can I find a LS 6? I Blew up mine ...
I hope there is a kind sole out there in the Corvette world who can help or point me in the right direction.. I blew up my Corvette LS 6 engine... Coolant got in a cylinder and caused a major problem.... I now have a hole in the block... :-( Anyone have any suggestions on were to go to get a new one/rebuild??? I'm short on $$$ My block has a hole in it... :-( This couldn't have come at a worse time as my wife just had a baby and I was on my way to the Delivery room to have the Baby and all of a sudden poof!!! The engine went by,by... Any help would be greatly appreciated...The good news is we got her to the hospital on time and she gave birth to a beautiful Baby Girl. This is one day I'll never forget... I had one baby Die and one was born... Now I have to figure out how to pay for all this... :-(

Chevy performance offers a full crate standard LS3 with 430 HP, a 480 HP version, and a 525 HP version.

check all the wrecking yards, they seem to sell around 3000 complete with good compression and leakdown numbers
one thing to keep in mind with buying a used engine, mileage means almost nothing. insist on leakdown and compression numbers. you have no idea how the car the engine came from was operated or maintained. you also have no idea if the seller is providing accurate mileage.
ls3 by the time it's all done will cost about 3x that much if you go new. can't imagine many people wanting to spend that on a c5
you could also buy an 01+ la1 and swap over your heads and cam
ls1s are much easier to find and cheaper

Cheapest way to get this done is pull out the motor and drop it off at a respected engine builder to have it looked over and repaired..

I saw this thread right under yours. I guess the person there wants to swap out their LS6 for an LQ9 and wants to sell it. I'm not sure how much he's asking but I figured I'd let you know.
Good luck!

If you just want to get back on the road cheaply look at swapping a truck engine into the car. You can get 4.8 and 5.3 truck engines for $500. All you would need to do is move some of your LS6 parts like the intake and accessories over. It should bolt in and use all the same sensor connections if you get a early 2000 engine. You could also find a truck 6 liter engine for around $1000. That would get you going and when you have the money, go find a LS6 to put in.

I feel your pain. I had the number 7 cylinder go lean on my LS6 and it blew the piston apart.
I went with Thompson MS http://www.thompsonmotorsports.net/i...cole3smedek2n7 replacement short block.
For the amount of work that will need to be done to pull that motor - you might as well go with the Forged Pistons. I also imagine that the heads will need to be refurbished or checked for valve damage.
And while you at it - you may want to consider rebuilding the torque tub couplers and bearings as well as replace the motor mounts.
If you do have valve damage - I replaced the intake valves on my LS6 and I still have 7 OEM LS6 Intake valves up for grabs.
This is a major job so it wont be cheap.
Good Luck
